So Erie County is essentially the swing county? It's interesting that Toomey slightly over performed there?

More proof that the Philly suburbs don't swing the state.

Going into the election, I kind of had a feeling Trump would win Erie County, but I was surprised that Too day won it, and even more shocked that he OVERperformed Trump there.

It's definitely the bellwether county, at least this year.

I never knew that before. Costello could probably win all the >40% D counties on this map in a neutral year.

Wow... looking at that map, you wouldn't think that the Democratic candidate won by 5 points.

Yeah looking at the Presidential map you'd think Trump won by 5-10 points. Pennsylvania is more urban than rural. I'd say if PA is 30% rural and 70% urban, then Clinton got about 60% in the urban parts and Trump got about 70% in the rural parts. Evens out to a near-tie, with Trump slightly ahead.

Clinton's problem, among others, was losing Luzern county by 18 points, even as down ballot Democrats won it as DePasquale did or even competed ala McGinty.

Yeah, the Senate map is pretty interesting - Toomey did much better than Trump in the close in Philadelphia suburbs, but significantly worse in Lackawanna, Luzerne, and parts of the T.
