The election of 2000:

✓ President Bill Clinton (D-AR)/Vice President Al Gore (D-TN): 338 EVs.; 51.0%
Governor George W. Bush (R-TX)/Former Secretary of Defense Dick Cheney (R-WY): 200 EVs.; 46.3%

After successfully winning a third term in 2000, President Bill Clinton announces in the fall of 2003 that he would follow FDR’s example sixty years before and run for office a fourth time in 2004. He declares that in the aftermath of 9/11 and globalization challenges, experienced leadership is needed. After 9/11, Clinton invaded Afghanistan, but not Iraq. Except for Iraq, the foreign policy remains roughly the same (including the Patriot Act).

What happens?
