Why are expats so overwhelmingly pro-Erdogan? That doesn't really make sense to me.

Cause they're mostly found in the lower echelons of society. They define themselves through their Turkish nationalism.

they don't suffer from supression and only feel economical success - and often are less educated than the average turk.

I think Istanbul is a good bellweather for this referendum? If no pulls ahead there maybe it has a shot at winning.

Though I'd be surprised if it was 52-48 like Brexit, let alone closer.

Yup.  Whenever we encounter varying degrees of madness over the next 4-8 years, I will just remind myself that at least we aren't Turkey.

With 63.4% of the vote in it is Yes at 55.7.  Using Nov 2015 as calibration Yes is headed toward 53.1 win.  No continues to gain round relative to Nov 2015 count patterns.  At this rate Yes will most likely win with less than 53% of the vote.

I guess the Turkish expat vote will eventually win it for Erdogan. I feel bad for the real Turks that will actually have to live in Erdoganistan.

There are what...6 million votes left? And "no" is trailing by 2 so I don't see this happening.
