In 2004, people talked about the "United States of Canada", because Kerry won all the states in the Canada border except Idaho, Montana and North Dakota.

Do you think that in the next elections we will talk about the Estados Unidos Mexicanos? California and New Mexico are safe D. Arizona and Texas were much more D in 2016 than they were in 2012. Maybe, all the states in the Mexico border will go D.

This may take a few cycles, but:

GOP wins 286-252, though the EV totals could be a bit different.

You would also have some new 'Canadian provinces' in the NE, down to VA.  There would be movements for both #NExit and #Mexit, with New Jesusland left over.

I think Illinois will keep blue (Leip's Atlas red), because the population of non-whites is big and because Chicago is a big city.

Isn't Chicago's population shrinking?

I'm not saying Chicago is going to meet Detroit's fate (although that can't be ruled out), but it has seen the largest losses in population in decades.

I do think the GOP can still make a play for Nevada for a few more cycles. I do think TX will go "purple" eventually but I don't see it going Dem the way of California anytime soon.

Well that map is showing one particular election, and it doesn't say anything about margins. Texas and Nevada could have been decided by a tiny number of votes for all we know.

Anyway, I will point out that all those states could join Canada and it would still be contiguous.
