Hillary Clinton has launched her newly redesigned campaign website, HillaryClinton.com. From the NYT article on the site:

With 16 months to go before the 2006 election, the establishment of the site shows how aggressively Mrs. Clinton and her advisers plan to pursue her re-election effort. And they do so with good reason.

For one thing, Republicans around the country are vowing to spend millions to damage her next year, mindful that she could be in a strong position to run for president in 2008 if she is re-elected to the Senate.

And beyond that, Mrs. Clinton's own advisers have privately conceded that she must win re-election decisively - not merely eke out a victory - in order to seriously pursue any national candidacy.

The reason, they say, is straightforward enough: It would be futile for Mrs. Clinton to start a national campaign if her base of support back home in New York is shaky.

Yes but it's nice. Why do Democrats have such nice campaign sites?  Sad

This website is better than John Kerry's was during the campaign.

It reminds me of John Kerry's presidential website. Very slick.

I find it interesting that the website is designed specifically to emphasize "Hillary" part of her name and downplay the "Clinton" part of her name, except when it appears under the name "Senator Clinton".

Other than the actual domain name title, "hillaryclinton.com", there is not one instance in the site that I can find of:

"Hillary Clinton", or "Senator Hillary Clinton"

The preferred names are:

"Hillary", "Senator Clinton", "Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton"

Just an observation from someone who does not like nor trust the woman.

Anyway, the site looks extremely slick and well-designed, with module-based design and adherence to standards.

Precisely the opposite of anything done with Microsoft.  Smiley

The Senate race is going to be pretty dull. She's super safe.

101% of the vote at least.

If she ran no organized campaign and just put her name on the ballot, she'd have a shot at 70%.  She probably will take 70%, with an outside shot at 75%.

Hey, Schumer pulled 71% in 2004.  Maybe Hillary can do one better... 72%?

Just suck it up and vote for her.  Don't you want your first vote ever to be cast in favor of the winner?

I'm in Westchester County right now, and I learned some things about Pirro.  A very, very, very partisan Democrat (this is a person who hasn't supported a Republican since a House election in 50s) told me that they like Pirro.  They say she is very effective.  However, her husband was arrested for tax evasion, which may hurt her.

I disagree with Tweed.

Schumer is more popular than Hillary and perhaps had an even worse opponent than Hillary will have in 2006. (look at the numbers)

Her chances of breaking 60% are about 95%.  Her chances of breaking 70% are about 20% in my mind at this point.

As for Jeanine Pirro, she will probably either run for re-election for Westchester County DA or potentially New York AG.  The chances of her running for Senate is fairly low in my mind.

Her husband's problems will hurt her in whatever office she runs for, imo, much like Geraldine Ferraro as an example.

I'd rather cast my vote for someone who isn't an opportunist.

The reason I said she has a shot for 75% is that the guy who's running now is the guy who Nixon's daughted married on the white house lawn.  This guy is an absolute joke of a candidate and would get slaughtered.  If Pirro is the nominee, she would stop Hillar from getting 70%, but the other guy (who's name I can't remember) is purely a sacrificial lamb.
