Party descriptions can be found in the huge thread, but in a nutshell:

SPD - center-left
CDU - center-right
FDP - basically libertarians
Greens - basically the as the US Greens
PDS - ex-commies, now typical far leftists
NPD - far right fascists

I'd vote PDS or SPD depending on where I lived, if I lived in Bavaria (which is where I think most of my German ancestors were from), I'd probably vote SPD.

FDP - basically libertarians
Greens - basically the as the US Greens
Both WAY more pragmatic than their US counterparts, to the point of not being really comparable.

If the current poll result would be the general election result, the Greens would probably win both direct seats in Frankfurt! Smiley

You'd think so wouldn't you? I can't stand Schroder though; he's just a prima donna who's run out of ideas. I'd certainly vote SPD in the constituency (or whatever it's called) vote, I'd be tempted to protest vote in the list vote though.

SPD on the constituency ballot, Greens on the general ballot.

I haven't made up my mind yet. My interests would probably be best represented by the Green party, yet the SPD will need every vote it can get. Thus, I haven't decided yet.

With the poll as it is now:

176 SPD
176 CDU
105 Greens
71   FDP
35   PDS
35   NPD

SPD-Greens-PDS or SPD-CDU would most likely result I guess.

This time around, probably CDU, although since I would be a SPD/CDU swing voter over in Germany it could vary. I wouldn't mind a Grand Coalition at all, actually...

Boy, I dunno. Cheesy

My actual vote will probably be highly tactical. It seems we are getting either a CDU/FDP coalition or a CDU/SPD coalition this September. So, I choose the grand coalition. Fu** ´em.

This means CDU/FDP have to fall short of a majority. So, I´ll give my "constituency vote" to whoever has the best chances to beat the CDU candidate in my district to prevent the CDU of getting to many overhang seats (my state is notorious for producing many overhang seats). This will either be the SPD or the PDS candidate, probably PDS if their poll numbers are rising even further.

To achieve a grand coalition it doesn´t really matter who I vote for with my "party vote", provided it isn´t CDU or FDP. This means I have to vote for SPD, Greens, or PDS. It´s not likely that it will be PDS, at least since Lafontaine is trying to imitate Ronald Schill and I started to wonder about his mental health (nevertheless I don´t have a huge problem to vote for the PDS candidate in my district... Petra Sitte is cool Cheesy).

Assuming that BRTD meant the second vote (party vote) and not this abomination called "first vote" (constituency vote) I´m voting for the Greens in this poll. Joschka is at least entertaining.

yeah, second vote is what I meant.

I'd probably vote SPD in the first vote unless I lived in a district where PDS had a chance and PDS in the party vote.
