Yeah pretty much. I don't think that it was the only decisive factor, but it was one regardless.

Really heartbreaking. And the sad part is that those who will be in power don't care that this happened. Comey is their hero.

And another sad thing is that even now that Hillary lost and is out of the DC scene, they still can't let go of her and the damn emails! Jesus Christ! These people are sad excuses for human beings. Sad

Yup. The Clinton campaign was running against a superpower, a domestic government agency, a twisted electoral system and Millenia of sexism in addition to the Trump campaign. In the end it proved too much.

The Clinton campaign had a bought & paid media which legitimized Fox News.

The Clinton campaign had all the money from Wall Street & ran negative ads of Millions of $

The Clinton campaign had the entire Dem party & celebs against a broken GOP

The Clinton campaign ran against Donald Freaking Trump

How pathetic are these folks? Are they preparing for another run? Do they want to end the Democratic party?

Why did Clinton lie in so many interviews? Why did she set up her own Server? Why were classified emails handled? These issues wouldn't even have come up in the 1st place

She said she had no classified emails - Comey said more than 100's were classified when they were send - She is lucky to even be allowed to run - We are not even getting to the incredible corruption with the Clinton Foundation!

This is why Clinton lost - She doesn't realize she has a terrible record, is universally hated apart from her base & her with her fans have created an echo chamber which further alienates people from her & makes them hate her

Was the email thing a dumb, tedious, over-exaggerated scandal?  YES.

Was the Comey letter a despicable interference in the election?  YES.

Did the Comey letter cost Clinton a few points in a razor-thin margin election? YES.

Was the Comey letter the only or even the major reason why Clinton lost?  HELL NO.

She was running flush with cash against Donald freaking Trump.  A generic Democrat in her shoes should win by Obama 08 levels.

1) It's a testament to what a horrible candidate she is that she lost
and
2) The Democrats had no business crowding out the field, then nominating a candidate with such potentially toxic downsides.

Excuse. All they need to do is look st their conduct, ads, and campaign events and find out why.

Regardless, words cannot express how much I hate James Comey. He gets to live the rest of his life knowing that he, by violating procedure and possibly the law, changed the course of history to flip the U.S. presidential election. If I were him I'd feel about as close to being a god as a human being can possibly do. It'd even be worth going to jail for life for. So yeah, I hate him.

You hate him but the Republicans love him. Good job, Comey. What a guy! Atta boy! You did good! We couldn't have done it without you. You da man!

The funny part is this maybe the only time a major nominee didn't receive support from any of the active living presidents of that party (HW Bush, W Bush, Romney & McCain) - none of whom voted for him. Only time the Republican Chair abandoned the nominee leading Trump to threaten to remove him.

I could go on & on - But the funniest part is that Mike Pence, the VP candidate was rumoured to abandon Trump & run away from a bus & didn't meet Trump for a few days.

God this if funny  - Let's go Hilldawg - "I'm with Her!"

I doubt a Hillary 2020 campaign would be very successful.

Exactly. Hillary Clinton didn't lose because of James Comey, she lost because of Hillary Clinton.

ofc there are 10000 reasons....if your margin of defeat is so low, even your choice of clothing, the weather and many other things could have been the final nail in the coffin.

top 10 reasons Hillary lost:
1. 2 X chromosomes;
2. James Comey;
3. Media false equivalency between Trump scandals and Hillary "scandals"
4. Voter Suppression;
5. White Tribalism;
6. Xenophobia;
7. Wikileaks;
8. Clinton fatigue;
9. Electoral College disadvantage;
10. Did I mention her female gender?

You didn't mention more important factors like the candidate being crooked and greedy (though certainly not moreso than Trump and not much moreso than std pols), unlikeable, uncharismatic, and running a feckless campaign with no message.

No, the loss happened a bit before that. I'd say during the debates.

Clinton lost because:

1. Conservatives came back to Trump.  This was inevitable, no matter how disgusting Trump was, no matter how clean Clinton was.  They were going to come home and find some way of justifying it.

2. A significant number of white Obama voters were never going to vote for Clinton, because she personifies the system that has been screwing them over since the early 90s recession and the subsequent economic boom that left them behind.

3. Minorities could not get excited by Clinton.  Not enough to make up for the white wave lining up behind Trump.

Comey may have pushed some critical undecideds into Trump's column, but very few people cared about the emails by that point, and if not for her other problems, no one would have cared.

I don't think Comey's letter was THE reason, but it was the nail in the coffin.

And it was utterly and completely dirty politics.

But all's fair in love and war, right?

It's OK to cheat to win, just as long as you win.

Clinton lost by about 100k votes. Hard to disagree that the gap would have been erased in a timeline without the Comey letter.
