I'm really curious about this, especially considering it happens so rarely in these past few cycles. My raw guess is either 1912, 1992, 1964, 1952, or 1932, but I really have no clue

Since 1972, the record has been tied between Carter '76 and Clinton '92.
2008->2012: 2+NE-02 to Romney
2004->2008: 9+NE-02 to Obama
2000->2004: 2 to Bush, 1 to Kerry (net 1 to Bush)
1996->2000: 11 to Bush
1992->1996: 3 to Dole, 2 to Clinton (net 1 to Dole)
1988->1992: 22 to Clinton
1984->1988: 8 to Dukakis
1980->1984: 5 to Reagan
1976->1980: 17 to Reagan
1972->1976: 22 to Carter
1968->1972: 17 to Nixon
