In 2014, having the name Mark was a threat to a candidate's chances of winning (Begich, Pryor, and Udall all lost, and Warner just barely held on.) It seems like this year, Pat or Patrick might be the cursed name.

Toomey is trouble, McCrory is in trouble, Murphy has very little hope of winning, and then there's Ann Kirkpatrick, who went from formidable challenger to sacrificial lamb. Anyone else I'm missing?

Mark Dayton also won by an underwhelming margin. Wasn't he expected to cross 50% and win by double digits? Also, this year, there is Patty Judge of Iowa, who looked formidable after Scalia's death but Grassley has now pulled away.

Patty Murray is probably the exception here, as she'll win by close to 20 points.

The other exception would be Patrick Leahy.
