What are some of your plans to help alleviate the economic recession in Atlasia?

I'd also like to hear this but he pretty much has my vote.

Do you have any plans to expand the Sec of Treasury position to where it actually does something?

I mean, frankly, my fellow Senators.  I really dosen't matter at all what his plans on ending the recession, because the position dosen't have the power to do anything.  If anything, we should be asking the questions to ourselves.

I offer no questioning to Soulty. He is one of the best choices for cabinet in Atlasian history.

What is your position on the elimination of the Alternate Minimum Tax? What is your opinion on eliminating the current tax system and replacing it with a consumption tax, GST, or flat tax?

Acctually, I can answer both of these questions in one answer.

Gentlemen, I hate to show my hand too soon, but for the purposes of being open and honest with the Atlaisan people, I must.

Atlasia lacks one key player that our real world must have in order to function.  That is a Federal Reserve Chairman.  As Treasury Secretary, I intend to fullfill that role.  As such, my first official act will be to lower interest rates and increase the money and credit supplies.  I see nothing in the Constitution that prevents me from doing this as my job is to manage all of Atlasia's finacial institutions.

Mr. Supersoulty, you respond to Senator MHS2002 by saying that you plan to assume leadership of our many federal financial institutions as Secretary and I support such a move, but I feel I still need an answer to MHS2002's question:  What, as the leader of these institutions, would you do to help alleviate the economic recession in Atlasia?

I thought that I had already answered that question.  My first action will be to decrease interest rates by half a percent or so and increase the money and credit supply, each by about 1%.  If that is insuficient, I will go with more, if we start running into inflation, I will start to reset the amounts to coorospond with that.

Another thing (that I did not mention previously) that I am looking forward to, is conducting nogotiations with congress and companies that work with Oilsands, inorder to secure a trade agreement, which would involve the Canadian government, which would put more oil into our market.  Thus, reducing oil prices and hopfully, within 10 years, eliminate our dependency on Mideastern oil.

P.S.  I have the dirrect approval of the President in both regards.

These are some excellent ideas, you've got my vote.

Mr. Supersoulty would you kindly answer my question please:

What is your position on the elimination of the Alternate Minimum Tax? What is your opinion on eliminating the current tax system and replacing it with a consumption tax, GST, or flat tax?

First off, I oppose any tax system that is not the current, graduated tax system, and I have said so many times.

Second, I would not eliminate the alternative minimum tax at this time as I think it is clear that we need the money.

This goes in general to all the nominations, but now since we've had three days for debate, let's bring these confirmations to a vote, Mr. VP.

I'm sorry for the delay.

Senators may now vote on the confirmation of Supersoulty as Secretary of the Treasury.

All those in favor, say Aye; those opposed, say No.

With six votes, Supersoulty is confirmed as Secretary of the Treasury.

Senators who have yet to vote may still do so for the record, but the result is final.
