It's come to my attention that the UK-Common Market Agreement is in effect, and has been for some time now!  As such, I'll take the honor of being the first Atlasian to register in a British country.

I looked through the past gm threads and the only mention of it was that Brexit was 'triggered,' which implies that the process (i.e. article 50) was started, but the official exit hasn't happened yet.

However, the text of the treaty is a bit confusing, as it states that the treaty goes into effect as soon as it is ratified, but the provisions of the treaty only are executed as soon as the U.K. officially leaves the EU.

Also, am I right in believing that the A-CCM doesn't extend to Canada? How on God's Green Earth did we re-pass this without including the original country to which it applied pre-reset? I don't want to live in the UK - I want to go back to Nova Scotia!

Optimistic - I would guess to make it a political objective to be strove for in future campaigns.


Reality - they probably just forgot or didn't consider it at the time at all.

The plan was always to negotiate a common market with Britain and Canada once the State Department had been reconstituted post-reset. Leinad and I reached out to both the British and Canadian governments in early August 2016; but before we could get anything in writing, Kalwejt resigned, and the successive month-long vacancy in the GM's office had the effect of pouring cold water on the negotiations. When Clyde finally took over (in late September, IIRC), the British were more receptive to the idea than the Canadians, so we went ahead and negotiated a separate treaty with them. That treaty was ratified in late October. I intended to stay on as Secretary of State and negotiate the Canadian Common Market after the October elections — but then Atlasia collectively forgot how to count and I had to be president instead. None of my successors in the State Department or the White House showed any interest in reviving ACCMA; I had to badger Ted/Dkrol/DFW for months to get ABCMA fully implemented.

I helped pursue the CMA with Britain because I figured it was appropriate at the time (given that Brexit had recently passed IRL) and because we had already done a CMA with Canada before the reset.  I wouldn't mind restarting the Canadian agreement again if there's enough demand for it, though.

(Although the Congress has been slow on things lately.  I sense that fantasyland is going through a down period now as far as activity and enthusiasm are concerned...)

They are all deregistering because they don't want to live in an Atlasia without me as President, obviously.
