Kaine has the better platform of ideals for winning the argument, since Pence must be careful not to contradict Trump's ideas.

So slight advantage to Kaine.

I expect Kaine to defeat Pence, not sure of the margin yet. It will be the least consequential VP debate since at least 2004 if not since 1996.

It'll be a narrow Kaine win, but won't help or hurt either ticket at all.

I expect a narrow win, by virtue that both will be applying the 'do no harm' rule.

Kaine. Only because Pence is disgusting in comparison. Not saying much, and ratings will suck anyway.

Probably the most important debate because whoever wins the presidency will probably get impeached looking at Clinton/Trump Cheesy .

I'm expecting Kaine to narrowly win.

Wonder if Pence will be asked about religious freedom and how canned/rehearsed of an answer it will be.

Well, I respect everyone's rights, but the rights of religious people (*he won't say Christians specifically*) are enshrined in the Bill of Rights and shouldn't be infringed.

Kaine because Pence will be on the defensive for his and Trump's policies and may even end up contradicting some of Trump's policies. Kaine is smart and slightly more charismatic than Pence.

On substance: Kaine easily
People will perceive it as a narrow Kaine win

Kaine will probably win narrowly, but I don't expect it to change the race in any way.

Kaine because he is high energy and Pence is half dead.

Kaine has to defend emails and foundation, while Pence has to defend Trump.

To "win" Pence has to have the performance of a lifetime.  He's former right-wing radio host and a deft communicator, but to move the needle at all in Trump's favor, he has to completely pile onto Clinton and make voters forget about Trump's shortcomings.

To "win" Kaine has to show up and not completely fall on his face.  He merely needs to deflect Pence's charges, and any damage he does to Trump is gravy.

Given that the burden is heavily on Pence, Clinton will almost certainly come out of this better, if not in the same position.

Veep debates rarely matter, but this is an unusual election with a lot of fickle voters and volatile polls.
