Donald Trump, the Republican presidential nominee, will also be a factor after polling at 57 percent in West Virginia in the Just Win Strategies poll. Hillary Clinton, the Democratic presidential nominee, was at 30 percent with Libertarian Gary Johnson at four percent and nine percent undecided.

If whites without a college degree are going to trend sharply Republican this cycle, Trump should win by more than this.

That's about the margin I'd expect for a candidate that would like to date his own daughter.

Additionally it looks like white voters overall in WV are much more Democratic than in almost all of the states of the Old Confederacy, with the exception of Florida.

Maybe the Democrats finally hit the floor? (Doubtful)

I believe that this is a Republican pollster. Not that it matters much in WV. Even Clinton admits she'll lose there.

Although nobody really doubted that Hillary Clinton, would be able to seriously contest the state, or even make it anywhere close, it was one of several bone-headed statements that she made that offended the sensibilities of many in WV.

Democrats are still capable of being competitive in statewide races, so long as they distance themselves from an increasingly unpopular National Democratic Party, that goes back to at least 2000.

Although, there are many in the state who still identify as Democrats, who have reliably voting Republican, there are also many who do not identify with the national Republican Party nor Democratic Party, that feel like they have been abandoned by both.

Is that really your position and similar to that of any other Dems on the forum???

I'm assuming this is in jest, but still playing up stereotypes of WV is so 1950s-2000s....
