Trump's on a roll today... he's upset that the suspect (an American citizen) is

1. allowed to get medical treatment

2. has to have a trial through the due process of the law before he's punished

He doesn't seem to understand the point of trial... or understand that mob anger shouldn't determine the outcome of a court case... or why we have most amendments in the Bill of Rights...

Trump is anti-constitution and anti-American. How this guy could have even the slightest chance in Nov is truly scary.

Hopefully Trump can serve out his prison sentence for embezzlement in Guantanamo Bay, where he can "tell it like it is" to the wall.

Even scarier than Trump saying these things is the fact that a majority of the Republican base probably agrees with him.

The majority of Americans have always supported things that were blatantly unconstitutional.  It doesn't matter what they support though, because we have a Constitution.

I'll be honest with you, fellas.  I think people deserve constitutional protections but when we're dealing with Donald Trump, who is collaborating with ISIS, I'm not so sure.

How could somebody who so recklessly plays with the safety of Americans be treated with basic dignity and respect?  Why can't we emulate ISIS, and torture him instead?

Donald Trump should be fed to a polar bear.  Beheading someone is crass.  But if we can help a struggling creature in this time of climate change and habitat destruction, maybe we could get something positive out of Donald Trump's horrendous scampaign after all.

This is my first point of contention with Sir Donald in many, many weeks. Hopefully he wizens up and doesn't get too caught up in all that.

The Supreme Court was ignored, the Trail of Tears happened, and Andrew Jackson never received a consequence except the critical commentary of historians.

So now we're shredding the Fifth Amendment too... What's next, four-term presidents? Troops in our houses? Cruel and unusual punishment? People, if this guy gets to pick your justices, nothing you can do...

Between a drafted military, speech restrictions, internment camps, mass deportations, and millions of people newly homeless and without health insurance - you'll hardly have time to worry about which of Donald Trump's children he decides to appoint to the Supreme Court.

There will be nothing you can say either, the way he's going on about the First Amendment.

At least he'll still defend Article 12.

This is getting ridiculous. He's basically throwing out the constitution one amendment at a time. WAKE UP PEOPLE!

Trump Complains That Bombing Suspect Will Get Medical Care, Due Process (Rahami is an American citizen)

Trump is off base on due process.  I believe he knows better, but he's not the first Presidential candidate who panders to the "Silent Majority".  I remember back in the 1970s when a survey asked folks whether or not they agreed with a number of proposals that were, in fact, the Bill of Rights.  Most folks actually opposed them.  Nixon played this to the hilt.

Of course, when folks get together and express the idea that maybe it isn't a good idea to increase the number of folks emigrating to America, or deporting those who are here illegally, regardless of circumstances, folks like Hillary aren't big 1st Amendment fans, so . . .

If terror suspects, and simply suspects, should be forbidden from basic human rights, what's to stop any opponent he chooses from being held on "terror suspicion" without evidence just to silence them?

I don't think there's been a nominee for President with more contempt for the constitution and what it means.
