Hmmmmm...

Warner/Kerry--271 (49.5%)
Generic Bush-like candidate (Allen, etc.)--267 (49.5%)

Kerry reminds me of that scene on "The Simpsons" where everything Mr. Burns comes into contact with rots.  Warner could win easily with a person like Lincoln to complement the ticket, but would only squeak it out (perhaps losing the PV) with Kerry.  I also have misgivings about a person winning without carrying a single southern state.  I know I harp about it, but we need to win at least one southern state.  We likely won't be a viable party if we fail to do this.  If we must settle on someone from the more liberal wing of the party for the VP slot, I'd go with Feingold or Edwards.  I don't think people would be turned off by them in the VP slot.  Anyway, it would be interesting if we could somehow quantify Kerry's effect on a ticket.

It would take a solid Warner campaign and destroy it by adding Kerry. Not that Kerry would accept a VP spot.

Im a Warner fan, but Ill be the first one to admit, Mark Warner will need a VP with strong foreign policy and national security credentials if he wants to win a presidential election.  Clark, Biden, and Richardson would all be solid VP picks.

I agree with nickshep. I would love to see a Warner/Richardson ticket in a year when the Republicans would be weaker due to no incumbent.

Kerry would never accept the VP slot.

But that's why I decided on Kerry.

Depends on who the Republican is. If it's McCain then Warner goes down in flames. If it's Giuliani, Frist, or Allen then Warner wins.

Warner/Biden would only lose to Giuliani/Pawlenty or something.

Seems like a lot of people are forgetting just how far Kerry got in 2004.

Who would've thought a far left candidate like John F. Kerry could come so close to winning the presidency?  But it happened.  He almost won.

Yea, I agree.  Not that he'd make a bad one though.
