Opinion of multi-level marketing

I personally think it's a scam where almost nobody makes money except the companies themselves, but everyone tries to get me to buy their crap on Facebook. Horrible Scheme.

I have some Facebook friends who just post about it every now and then, but there are others who never post about anything else and post multiple times per day just hounding people about these products.

An old b-school classmate of mine works in strategy (corporate) at Amway and tells me that it's no more a "scam" than many traditional sales-oriented companies selling products out of telesales farms or using highly optimistic advertising. I'm still generally opposed, but I wouldn't go as far as calling them scams.
