Mexico isn't really laissez faire. Its constitution says all land belongs to the state.

Canada is generally the better nation. However, Mexico is vastly superior to Quebec.

I don't know much about either country, but I can say Mexico isn't laissez-faire in as far as they have a government monopoly of oil and gasoline.  It's Pemex or nothing.

Canada. I love Vancouver, B.C. Beautiful city. Mexico is ripe with coruption. In Nuevo-Loredo, a massive drug war was raging in which the Mexican army was sent in to calm the situation. They even had to arrest the local police for their alleged involvement. The only safe places to go in Mexico are the resort towns, and you better not go visit outside of those areas. The government also controls most, if not all, of the major corporations.

I visit Canada on numerous occasions. I may disagree with many of their policies, but I love America, Jr. Sorry, couldn't resist.

Plus the oil industry is completely socialized.

Is this where you would rather live or visit? I'd rather live in Canada but I'd rather vacation in Mexico.

I liked Canada when I was there, and Mexico is one of those countries I'll have to have been  to before I die.

Hmmm Lemme see. Those are pretty minor issues. I lived in Monterrey + Saltillo for the 1st 12 years of my life, and I must say that the interior northern states of Mexico are pretty damn safe! The poor part of the country is the south (especially the state of Chiapas). which is where most illegals come from (others come from central and south america). the reason some border town are what i like to call, the opposite of the canadian border, is because of the people that use those towns as pit-stops to the U.S. NOBODY lives there! and most ppl who stay there come from the south. Now. Let us see. America Jr's population is concentrated within 140Km (85mi) north of the US border. Pretty much because the rest of their massive and frozen land is UNHOSPITABLE!
Mexico's population is pretty ebenly distributed throughout the country, although it is more cramped up in the center (where Mexic, DF is).
Do you see people preferring canadian food over mexican? Do canadians stand out from the crowd in American cities, and display their national pride as much as Mexicans? Is canada a real country anyway?

well all i could say to those is... NO!

MEXICO >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> canadia

Also, keep in mind, that we as a nation (mexico) have much more national identity than canadiadiadia

You'd need a lot of Mexicans to rig this poll to make it close.

Haha, I don't really know what to say to this other than... well, no.  Given that Canada has the northernmost settlement on Earth, I could hardly say that it's "inhospitable".  So what if the population density isn't very high?  Canada has tons and tons of beautiful forests and wilderness.

Also, keep in mind, that we as a nation (mexico) have much more national identity than canadiadiadia

Given my experience on July 1, I would have to disagree that Canadians have no sense of national identity.  Most Canadians are very proud of their country and hail it as being one of the most inclusive, tolerant, and beautiful countries in the world.  What exactly is Mexico's national indentity?

Hey Mexican guy, you obviously know nothing about Canada.  Don't insult our nation until you have actually lived here and experienced it.   Obviously most of the Americans here have at least some knowledge of Canada to know that it is a better place to live than Mexico Smiley  Not to say Mexico is a bad place or anything, I am sure it is quite a nice country.

was I ever insulting it? It just angered me that someone said that my country was laced with corruption! so I had to defend it... For your information, i HAVE been to canada, including Quebec, dont get me wrong i like that country too.

Well Mexico wins the contest for better food and beaches over Canada any day but seriously the place I would rather live in is Canada. At least it's a first world country. Wink

Ok those sqweemy world divisions are flat-out outdated. Communism's gone! so there's no need to segregate countries that way, even so, Mexico's no longer a 3rd world land like Most Americans like to think!

a 3rd world country meant that it had neutrality in the cold war! it was not on either side of the cause between the US and Russia. I coulda been as rich as switzerland, or iceland, or as poor as malawi

Canada.  If thousands of people are risking death in the desert in order to get to another country, there is something wrong.
