A sea of problems seem to be swamping the Republicans in North Carolina, including Trumps campaign woes, HB2, and rapid demographic change:

HB2 couldn't have been passed at a worse time. They deserve to get walloped.

The state GOP will do everything in its power to limit early voting and make it difficult for black people to vote. They'll go down kicking and screaming, but it'll make watching their downfall all the more satisfying.

A high turnout of Trumpshirts intimidating and assaulting likely-D voters at polling places could easily change that.

Roy Cooper is a definite favorite at this point, and it's a Toss-Up presidentially. Ross may be dragged in via Hillary's coattails.

Remember that the original media narrative was that the dems were incapable of repeating the "2008 magic". LOL.

2008 definitely wasn't a fluke, and it looks like this will be the year to prove it.

Let them. I want them to try their heart out and still fail. North Carolina voters will give the Presidency, Governorship and Senate seat to the Democrats. Unfortunately the state legislature will remain in Republican hands.

What's the origin of Trumpshirts? Why not Redhats?

Trumpshirts references the various pre-WWII fascist movements in Europe, which Trump's campaign has some similarity to. Redhat is a Linux distro.

Most race prognosticators still have NC-Sen as Lean R. I think we'll see that change very soon.

I think we could see a GOP top-to-bottom COLLAPSE in the suburbs. It won't flip the legislature thanks to the aggressive gerrymander in place there, but D's will make gains.

Awesome if the NC-GOP will go down in flames for all their crazy semantics. Though I'm not that optimistic it will.

If Cooper is re-elected in 2020, how will his vetoes impact redistricting? Could it potentially throw the task to a court?

The governor doesn't have veto power for redistricting. That's how the current maps got approved under a D governor.

If Trump narrowly loses NC, this is his only path:

Trump 271
Clinton 267

Unlikely, but notimpossible.

If Trump loses North Carolina, he's losing Nevada by at least 7.

To illustrate how gerrymandered the NC legislature is, in 2012 Democrats won the popular vote but not only did the R's keep their majority, they kept their SUPERmajority.

As someone stated before, Cooper wouldn't be able to veto any maps if he was reelected.

HOWEVER, something most people probably aren't aware of is that the NC State Supreme Court has a 4-3 Republican majority, and has 1 Republican justice up for re-election this year. Remember that the State Supreme Court voted along party lines to uphold the maps in a lawsuit some time ago, so if Democrats can win this, we are set to overturn badly rigged maps in the next round of redistricting.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/North_Carolina_judicial_elections,_2016

As the page says, thanks to Republicans in 2015, each candidate's party will be printed on the ballot and a disaster downballot for the GOP in North Carolina this November could sweep Edmunds right out of office, and set the stage for fair(er) maps in 2021-2022.

If the party knows what's good for it, they won't ignore this race. Recent history doesn't leave me feeling comfortable, though.

Saving Richard Burr should be Priority number 1

Saving Pat McCrory IS the NC GOP's Priority Number 1.

McCrory's a jerk.  He miscalculated by raising the bathroom issue, which led to a corporate backlash.  I really don't know how I feel about the bathroom issue, but McCrory was too stupid to let the sleeping dog lie, or at least recognize that it was a pitbull, and not a poodle.

This confirms NBC/WSJ as a more accurate barometer than PPP of the state of the race in NC, which is tough for me to get my head around, but it fits the facts

Look, Burr and McCrory will both run ahead of Trump's state-wide number. So if they're in trouble, then Trump is doomed.

I wouldn't be so sure about McCrory. I agree that Burr will, though.

I'm almost tempted to just say to hell with it and allow the Democrats to win just to get rid of McCrory or Burr.
