Additionally, I made a map showing areas taken & areas under federal tax control:

http://img137.echo.cx/img137/2483/newbiemap9bp.png

I think this'll make it easier to determine which district you want to take.

You neglected Adam's claim of district 88.

Also yes, it would be absolutely fantastic if Dave would allot me a forum for experimentation; we could spread the topics out more and find information faster that way.

Excellent, easy kill, mwahahahaha! *evil grin*

Just kidding of course, lol.

Still, this raises the question - can you take over other territories?

Yes, as soon as we develop a method for actual war. I laid out some ground rules in the original post, but I need to think more on how to actually develop it. You can also make alliances, so perhaps I'll get Districts 11 and 48 on your buttox. XD

Well, based on what things in the game look like to me, you might want to take a look at the rules for the game "Risk", though it would certainly require enhancements(war costs money, after all, and that isn't in Risk if I remember). I was actually planning to do something somewhat similar(not in game format, though), so I'd be happy to help you build the rules and whatnot.

I set up a little crap site to document some of the stuff. The rules page doesn't work yet, but everything else should:

District - 9

Montana Free State

EDIT: How do you come up with the budget numbers? What do you mean by the inverse rank of employment?

One problem is that I doubt you will be able to find 137 people willing to do this. You may, I don't know, but you might have to put in either a pick two sort of thing or keep some districts free so that others could take them over or conquer these open areas.

Not necessarily a problem - if you make things like somewhat Risk neutral territories will fight back if invaded, they just won't be aggressive, so conquering the open areas should take time and resources.

Cardinal Brambila: Do you think it would be alright if soon I may add your colored variations of the maps to the site as well?

Note to everybody: Tonight, my updating will be slower due to the fact that I am not at my house.

Actually, that's why I created them Smiley  I figured newbies could more easily see which district they'd want, whether it was taken or not, etc. using the maps I made.

I made a GDP map detailing the economies of each inhabited district so far. Later tonight I plan to calculate the budgets for all districts and will furnish a map either tonight or tomorrow.

The url for the new map is http://www.geocities.com/americanatlas05/dis_boredgdp.GIF

Looks like as of now the Upper West has the advantage, while the Pacific Coast is in a slump.

I use unemployment rates and population to determine the daily budget. I then divide the daily budget back by the number of people in your district to get a number. It is then multiplied by 365 to determine the GDP per person per year. Oregon has a very high unemployment rate; combine that with your population and daily budget and it leads to low income. Don't worry, once the game is on the move there will be ways to improve your economic standing. When the game starts, I believe that if my calculations are correct, every district in one state will have the same economic ranking (due to my inability to forsee this), but it will change once factors begin to play in during the game.

Due to the fact that this will be a challenge enough as it is, I have decided to let all participants select 2 territories (or 1 if you already have one) to fill up the void quicker. This additional territory must border your existing territory. This will occur until there are 50 participants (100 territories) filled. I'll start with District 89.
