The story

This much praised project is now finally bankrupt, another end at Chapter 11. Thousands of people lose their jobs, millions of dollars lost (except for the GOP nominee, who made cash off the backs of others). Now tell me again how the Trumpster is a world-class businessman. This thing was a failure from the start on.

Uhh, this wasn't a failure from the start, and Trump doesn't own it. It was a failure once gambling was legalized elsewhere - Philadelphia is about to build it's 5th casino - and once the state of New Jersey failed to adequately build infrastructure to support the city (including but not limited to a serious airport).

In case you missed it, this lasted substantially longer than some of the other casinos in AC

But muh Trump, muh capitalism #YouDidntBuildThat

If we're actually caring about the underlying issue rather then making fake headlines, I'm curious which will close next. I don't know a ton about the underlying financials in each case - the Borgata may be the most likely to last, but I'm not sure it can on its own. Golden Nugget is small enough to be a silly niche nearby, but it's still deeply concerning for the city.

I wonder if they might just say forget the beach and beg for Harrah's to be kept intact. Deep conflict in which part of the city to prop up.

Well, he did put his name on it.

He doesn't own it anymore because he failed spectacularly at the casino business. It's not really a defense of him to say that his abject failure is displaced in time from this particular abject failure. Also, it's got his name on it, as has been noted.

"It has his name on it." So what? This holds no real relevance from a debate point of view if he doesn't own it.

Trump has this recurrent problem with disrespecting wives of khans, doesn't he?

It shows that he hasn't got the judgment to not saddle his name to a failing business.

It affects the perception of his brand, which is the only reason we're discussing it. If his brand is failing, if something attached to his name is terrible, why should we trust the man himself and his judgment? He *is* his brand, plain and simple.

I already stated that his brand is not failing. This has been an issue for a number of years, and Atlantic city is failing. Completely unrelated. The question you pose is beyond illogical. I'd hope you be able to see that.

You're right. This has the stink of failure, but nothing compared to how badly he's going to get beaten in November.

Haha, yeah, that's pretty good, actually. I think your post ended up being sandwiched between a "serious business" argument, and single posts can often get lost pretty fast in there.
