Because of Senator Supersoulty's recent resignation, a special election will be held for his Senate seat this weekend.  The states in this district are DC, DE, MD, PA, VA, and WV.  A candidate can declare any time between now and this Friday.

Vermont is in District 3 (I know that because I am the Senator for District 3 Tongue).

District 1 is, I think: DC, Delaware, Maryland, Pennsylvania, Virginia, West Virginia.

Since TD is going away this weekend or something, I've been delegated the fun task of overseeing this.

Since I can't stay up past midnight latest, I will be posting the ballot soon.

I recognise LiberalPAs declaration. Anybody else, you've got about an hour.

Will we have an absentee ballot avalable soon? I need to vote before I leave.

I think once Peter Bell no longer accepts declarations, you can legally cast an absentee ballot.

Candidacy declarations will close in 17 minutes.

At this point, this will then become a legitimate venue to cast an absentee ballot.

Official Ballot

Absentee votes here up until midnight EST, anything after that should be in the booth or it won't get counted.

And don't ignore the red, size 14 font, underline text anybody.

This is a note to state that under the 10 day rule, I must discount Frodo's vote in this election unfortunately.

Is this "the good old days" people talk about? When a vacancy was annnounced, declarations accepted, and ballots cast, all in the space of less than a week? I like the present day better.

The "good old days" were back in mid 2004 - early 2005. Those were the best.

Stop scaring me, I thought we had a vacancy and I had to update the district voter roll.

If it is the legal procedure, that's not good. I really don't like the haphazard way in which this was conducted.

That's just due to the absence of the SoFA at the time (and to the fact that the starting hours were then still supposed to be fixed, which has been changed precisely because this sort of thing used to happen).
