The 1952 election:

✓ Governor Adlai E. Stevenson (D-IL)/Senator John Sparkman (D-AL): 269 EVs.; 49.7%
General Dwight D. Eisenhower (R-PA)/Senator Richard Nixon (R-CA): 262 EVs.; 49.6%

In 1956, the Republicans once again draft Ike for president, after he was narrowly defeated in 1952. He faces President Stevenson. What happens?

327: General Dwight Eisenhower/Governor Thomas Dewey - 53.9%
204: President Adlai Stevenson II/Governor Coke Stevenson - 42.0%

Others(mainly John Malcolm Patterson) - 4.1%

Ike ousts Stevenson, but does not seek reelection in 1960. Then, Vice President Knight defeats JFK.

General Dwight D. Eisenhower (R-NY)/Governor Goodwin J. Knight (R-CA): 339 EV. (51.65%)
President Adlai Ewing Stevenson (D-IL)/Vice President John Sparkman (D-AL): 192 EV. (46.90%)
