And just this minute, they adopted the following amendment change:

"Children raised in a traditional two-parent household tend to be physically and emotionally healthier, less likely to use drugs and alcohol, engage in crime or become pregnant outside of marriage"

So much for trying not to further alienate minorities

While there is some empirical evidence that suggests that two-parent households are more stable, you can bet the platform drafters gave zero thought to any socioeconomic factors that make single parenthood a requirement for many women (and men, for that matter) rather than a choice and will prob just pin it on "moral failings" and the usual claptrap.

One Trump delegate who spoke opposed it for attacking single mothers like herself. It was immediately followed by a delegate proclaiming "We've been for traditional marriage since the 1860's and polygamy. Why stop now for 1% of Americans?"

read: their wives caught them watching (probably hardcore gay) pornography, decided to stop sleeping with them, and now they're trying to make up for it

... don't even know what to say to that.

Also, porn is not a "public health crisis," but prudishness exacerbates it's negative effects. If people weren't so prudish about frankly discussing sex and you could find adult nudity in mainstream culture outside of titillation machines like HBO, maybe sexually confused young people wouldn't need to turn to porn to learn about their urges.

The downside to porn (I say this as someone who has always preferred nudity in film and television - hardcore porn legitimately grosses me out) is not dudes sitting at home whacking it but impressionable people who think that 12-inch members and anal sex are just normal sex stuff. The counter to that is ACTUAL sex education in this country and a less puritanical attitude towards portrayals of sex and sexuality in popular media. Normalizing sex will do a lot more to solve the negative downsides of porn more than banning pornography.

But of course, the same people who want to ban porn have zero interest in normalizing sex in media, so it's a moot point regardless.

I should clarify my previous rant: if consenting adults are into having anal sex with each other, whether heterosexual or homosexual, that is plainly their business and not what I was critiquing. My point was that depictions of women submitting to oft-violent anal sex in porn is not a lesson on courteous sex I would hope young, sexually inexperienced porn viewers internalize.

They also gave up on trying to get a marriage amendment, so that's a positive.

Other proposed amendments: teaching the Bible as part of American history (compromised into elective), supporting the Parental Rights Amendment (accepted), and "action on the no longer theoretical threat of electromagnetic pulse weaponry." (accepted) lol

First openly gay RNC delegate just proposed a general marriage equality amendment. Dropping poll numbers regarding gay marriage support among millennials, particularly republican evangelicals Quickly defeated, although by hand vote rather than voice vote (As requested by the delegate). Around 10-15 votes in support of it.

Watching online on C-Span, so excuse the live updates.

Platform meeting just concluded, but not before defeating an amendment labeling marijuana legalization a state issue protected under the Constitution

Fun and revealing watch overall. The Cruz delegates seemed to win today

Becoming down right fascist in its control over peoples lives, but they keep bitching about how the left is taking away freedoms? Hypocrites.

They will blame Trump, but they have brought this upon themselves.
