Ugh, I hate Evan Bayh. Does anyone know if he's still popular enough to win statewide? I guess it would be worth it for the majority and Supreme Court appointments.

Yeah, I'd rather have a Republican.

IMO, this is a Tossup now at worst - Young won't be easy to beat. Would have been Likely D had Stutzman won the GOP primary, though.

Another seat the RSCC has to defend it what will be a tough year.

Wow, Bayh currently has almost 10 million COH that he can use for this race. Hill only had 300K as of the last report.

As much has I really dislike Bayh, this is a recruiting coup for the Democrats.

Think this has anything to do with Pence as a potential VP candidate? A signal that the Democrats are very willing to contest this state?

Much better candidate from electoral point of view. Moves race to Leans R from Likely R at least. And i don't give a damn about him being "DINO" - he will vote with Democrats much more frequently then Young AND he has chances to win. That's all that important...

I don't care about how terrible Bayh can be, senate majority is at stake so you will hold your noise and support him, and I'm sure you will do that Smiley

Yeah, after my initial disgust I've come to realize winning the Senate seat is more important. Maybe he's moved a bit to the left since 2010?

Bayh has never lost a statewide race in Indiana. He's 5-0. 6-0 if you count the gubernatorial primary.

In the past 25 years, the worst he's done is getting 61.6% of the vote.

This is a game-changer.

Given that the Republican Governor of the state could soon be the running mate of Trump it's probably not a bad idea.

Definitely makes the race competitive - emphasizes how important it was for Young to win the primary. I'm sure his camp isn't thrilled with this.

Will be a close race, but until polling suggests otherwise, my money is still on Young. I'm curious at what the Democratic internals said to prompt him to run. There is some dirt to hit Bayh on, he just made millions of dollars working as a lobbyist in D.C. Two great candidates, but personally I'll be hoping to retain the Senate majority.
