Why not just give it the same Congressional representation as it would have otherwise? If it became a state, it would ruin the idea of a city separate from the states.

Yeah, who cares what black people think! Muh outdated political concepts.

I think whites are on pace to outnumber blacks in DC by the end of the decade.

Yes, give DC statehood and turn Wyoming into a Federal Mining District.

It absolutely should not be a state, but should be given to either Maryland or Virginia, preferably the former.

I think it's unfair to accuse the opponents of racism. Even if DC was 100% white, GOP hacks would still oppose statehood because they're not the types of whites that vote Republican.

No, because I find the idea of a Federal City rather romantic. However, I'm resigned to the fact that I will eventually lose out on this issue, as most people are averse to nice things.

At the very least, they should be allowed a voting representative in Congress.

Off course, it's fundamentally Un-American that over 600,000 people who pay full taxes and are American citizens have zero voting representation in Congress.

No, because it goes against the idea of a separate national capital.
But that's a dumb idea that we really should be going against.
