Nah, if needed, Trump can fill the stage with Apprentice Candidates, other Reality Show Stars, football players and coaches, Arizona Sheriffs, and Fox News regulars.

It's a bit odd for Trump to invite him without asking for an endorsement.  So I would *guess* that there's some kind of secret agreement that Cruz will endorse him in the speech.

But maybe not....after all, Trump doesn't play by the normal rulebook.

Last time the GOP announced the speakers 21 days ahead of time. The convention starts in 10 days.

Nobody wants to speak at the convention because it will associate them with Donald Trump (=very bad). Sad!

Normally, the presumptive nominee's campaign keeps tight control over what the speakers are allowed to talk about, to make sure everyone's on message.  But the Trump campaign is sufficiently disorganized that I'm not sure they're going to bother.  Will be interesting to see who goes way off script.

I agree the chances of someone saying something insane are pretty good, especially some rando Congressperson (or even worse, candidate for Congress) in a non-primetime spot.
