Today, June 17, marks the 75th Anniversary of Herbert Hoover's worst mistake, the signing of the Smoot-Hawley Tariff Act.  This act was a major factor in making an ordinary recession into The Great Depression as it and the retaliatory tariffs enacted by other countries in response to it served to sharply curtail international trade.

That wasn't a very big factor compared to the tax hike and the mistaken monetary policy of the Federal Reserve.

Then we can talk about the proud legacy of FDR continuing the Depression instead of actually doing anything to fix it.
