Yeah, I really don't get why CT keeps electing this guy. Both of his elections were held during R waves too.

There is not a single good reason why a state like CT with its rich population and tiny poverty rate should have a billion dollar deficit

He could probably still win again.

If he gets his approval rating up by 10 it's feasible but he probably will still lose in a primary

He's not running for reelection again, he's going into the Clinton cabinet.

That to me is the most shocking thing. Crazy

The first one I think Connecticut had a level of being tired of Republicans in the Governors Mansion (especially after Rowland), and thus Foley lost. Then Foley ran again and ran a miserable campaign the second time around and learning nothing from the first campaign.

Malloy, meanwhile, runs vigorous campaigns.

You're sorta right. No, we weren't tired per se. Rell was pretty popular. It is more the campaigning. Malloy is a hard worker, be it with dirty tactics or not, and Foley just ran a lousy campaign both times. The second time should have been his for the taking.

Be a partisan nightmare to small businesses that hates guns (we have more gun owners than you think) and repeats a failed tax and spend model. Not to mention slashing hospitals.

1. Expensive highway projects
2. Cutting $20 million from local aid
3. Failed criminal justice reform bill

Just to name a few.  I don't follow much on CT politics these days and never paid a whole lot of attention to it when I lived there, but that's a few of the things my moderate Democrat second-cousin has lambasted him for on Facebook.

I understand 2010, but the re-election drives me nuts. He was just as horrible in 2014. One of the worst Democratic governors - worse than O'Malley and MD flipped! Not the order I expected.

2010 was stupid narrow. I personally suspect some fishy business, and there was an independent spoiler. 2014 was purely a combination of Foley being an idiot and Visconti.

As what??

Malloy is a pretty great campaigner, though his reelection bid was pretty similar to Truman 1948.

How did this guy get reelected again?

Voter apathy has a way of doing that, and 2014 was one of the most apathetic elections ever.

So Malloy has the same ratings as a governor who was at that time being officially investigated for charges of corruption?  Way to blow it, "Dannel".

Governors rarely lose re-election.
Tell that to Jon Corzine, Ted Strickland, Chet Culver, Sean Parnell, Pat Quinn, and Tom Corbett.
