As we all remember, "severely conservative" Romney flopped and waffled to the far-right to out-conservative Gingrich and Santorum and win the nomination in 2012 and how badly that was for him.

in 2016....well we get Donald Trump...

Flipped and Flopped multiple times on the Muslim ban, flip-flopped on his self-financing campaign plans, practically did a 180 on ALL his views he has ever held in his life.

Trump's flops obviously.

His are already damaging the GOP brand and I think this whole election will be like syphilis for the Republican party - Sure, the infection makes you laugh and be erratically happy for awhile, but that's only because the disease is literally eating away at your brain. I'm sure the next GOP autopsy will shine a light on the extent of this damage Tongue

I remember Romney in 2012. He scared me, but not like this. Romney looks like Bernie next to Trump.

Romney said what he thought people wanted to hear to win the nomination. Trump said what people actually thought to win the nomination. Romney was clearly worse.

At least Romney stayed consistent on some issues.

Well, of course, nobody does it with the rapidity of Trump.  Of course his bloviating buffoonery is worse, saying the Mexicans will pay for the wall, saying he'll make coal great again, claiming to raise $6 million for armed forces charities when he hasn't.  His mouth constantly writes checks that his butt can't cash.

Trump is a magical kind of dung, not pig or cow because things can grow from those, nothing grows from Trump dung.

Hillary demanding Bernie apologize to Sandy Hook victims before the New York primary and then a week later talking about how great it is that her father taught her to shoot and how great the 2nd amendment is in rural Pennsylvania.

Romney's flops were worse because it made him appearing to be merely playing a role.  Romney flopped on more than just a few issues; he flopped on his own crowning achievement as Governor of Massachusetts (RomneyCare).  Think about it; a guy who did something remarkable as Governor had to repudiate his own accomplishment in order to mollify the GOP base while running for President.

Trump's just non-ideological.  Indeed, the flops are part of his appeal.  A lot of folks voting for Trump have changed their minds on both Trump and on where they stand on a number of issues, so Trump's flops won't hurt him the way Romney's did.  Romney appeared phony in a way Trump can't even approach.

Trump's playing a role, too. His acting though is just more Oscar worthy.

Trump doesn't even know enough about a given political issue to not accidentally flip flop when speaking later

Did she gun down elementary school children in rural Pennsylvania? Do you not see the difference between target shooting and massacring school children?

Also "but Hillary" in a thread not even about her, lol.

Trump's are more prominent.

But Trump is more prominent.

This election is just 99% Trump.

Did Sanders kill the kids at Sandy Hook? Clinton has been running the most anti-gun campaign of any major candidate in recent memory, and for her to go from demanding an apology from Sanders to the Sandy Hook families to praising gun ownership in a matter of a week or two is very cynical politics at best. When it comes to "evolving" on the issues for political expediency, Clinton is right up there with Romney and Trump.

No use responding to jfern on here. I don't think anybody on here takes him seriously anymore. Reality is hitting him hard. Jill Stein is ready to welcome him with open arms to her party that's going to get less than 1 percent of the vote nationwide. Lol

To the OP, I think Trump's flip flops are worse. Mitt was a moderate Republican when Governor of Massachusetts and then a moderate-to-conservative when he ran for President; Trump was pretty much a liberal Democrat all of his life until he decided to run for president as a right-wing populist nationalist. But I don't think either one of them really believes the garbage they're spouting; just trying to get the bigots to vote for them.

Bernie didn't gun down elementary school children. To blame him is despicable.

lmao

Anyway, I don't think Romney has ever flip flopped on the same issue multiple times in the same day before.
