Only a couple of days, I'm sure it's fine! I'm now back and fully active, sorry for that gap, was far off in internetless Western Isles...

WB Smiley

I'm a bit concerned because Lumine, being always a dedicated fellow, usually would warn us about incoming absence. I really hope there's no emergency.

I should be making excuses for something I've never quite done, but in all fairness I can't quite do that.

But strictly speaking, what has kept me from the forum for quite a few days is the fact that I've been forced into a sudden change of residence (among other family matters) with subsequent "logistical challenges", so to speak. Add to that the fact that my university strike may be finally collapsing for good, and the past week has been chaos for me, particularly considering the next month will probably be a bit hellish in one way or two.

But since I have internet connection again, I can finally write what I was missing.

Alright folks, update!

My university strike collapsed!

It is fantastic news for me as this two-month nightmare is over, but it also a fact that I will have very little spare time from now on. That doesn't mean the game is to die as I've managed to pull myself back from some of the bad feelings I've been having lately towards some of my obligations, so I've decided to return to this with a few changes.

As you can see by the update, there are three matters to deal with. First, I need Spamage to choose a Chancellor and his governing coalition going by the backstory numbers. Second, I need clarification from Leonardo on whether we'll have Congress election, and I can get to simulate that. Third, I need to know what will happen from the Ottomans regarding the Balkan War, as to whether move to an int. conference or resume the war.

In the meantime, I can also announce I'll be seeking a helping hand as sub-GM to handle things better. I know I tend to be overtly individualistic as GM, but I certainly need the help if we are to continue given my limited time.

Probably not, looking into it. We'll have a later update on how the US Election will play out, and hopefully... the revelation of who the new German Chancellor is.

I'll go with bold prediction: a nonpartisan economic genius Hjalmar Schacht becomes Chancellor to focus on all economic stuff, while someone else is taking a political lead.

Personally, I'm expecting Von Papen lol

We seem to be going nowhere.

I'll be away until at least August 16.

The lack of spare time has made my delays worse, it seems the format I created is just too complicated for me to handle without starting to struggle heavily soon. Still looking into a potential solution, but I'm happy to hear ideas as I'm blocked.

Personally, I'm very busy as high school just started up. Maybe you could try to find a Co-Game Moderator to assist you when you're busy and to speed things up. If I were you, I would very clearly define what you duties you can delegate when needed, are completely delegating, and what you completely won't delegate.

Was there the end of the world or we're being merely suspended in time?

Both, I suppose. The drawback to my university strike ending is that I have to do two months worth of class, exams and research in, oh, three weeks, and we're still two left to go. That is why I've been able to play something less stressful like the parliament game but not fulfill my duty.

That said, it does cause me stress that I'm unable to handle the game, my statements must look a bit farcical on the matter.

Would everyone be okay with me formally suspending this until I get over the pain of ending the semestre suitably? It seems more responsible on my behalf rather than current promises, and it would allow me to return once everything necessary for another turn or update is done.

Yes and no. I did finish my semester more or less in one piece, but the second began immediately with no vacations and I have been rather tired from both that and the university elections in which I stand as a candidate.

The bad news is that the scope of SoD is just too large for me personally to sustain it given my other time commitments (which are likely to keep me busy all the way to early January). The good news is that my mood has improved significantly, which means I could therorically host a much smaller game from an array of ideas I keep in store.

Hm... maybe we can "reboot" the SoD with fewer players and less complicated setup, while leaving essential developments so far?

Personally I don't think it's doable (but that's because I'm a bit obsessive with detail at times), but what ideas you have on that concept?
