It seems to me that she's not trying to win the support of the left at all and trying to pander to neocons and the #NeverTrump crowd as well so I could easily see it.

Huh? What incentive would she have to do that? If anything, a Republican running mate would just decrease Democratic turnout, which works in Trump's favor.

She's going to run to Trump's right on foreign policy and possibly even the economy and try to pander to the GOP establishment.

I don't think so. She is already under fire from the "Progressive" wing of the Democrats, so picking a Republican would probably NOT be accepted with enthusiasm. Plus with Trump as the opponent, nobody doubts that Clinton is a more "stable" alternative.

Although Clinton-Kasich 2016 - The Sane Ticket has some marketing potential Smiley.

I wouldn't mind a reasonable Republican vice president under Hillary, but that would create a very big risk of the Bernie progressives refusing to vote for her, because she would just look like a DINO. We cannot risk hurting Democratic turnout.

But the biggest thing, that I haven't seen talked about with Hillary-GOP VP ticket, but has been talked about with some Trump VP selections, is that there would be NO hesitation at all of the GOP House to impeach Hillary, because if she was removed then they would have a Republican as president. If anything, we should try to have a candidate that scares Republicans away from impeaching her. Perhaps...maybe...Elizabeth Warren?

Another troll thread by the Sandernistas who are convinced that she's a secret Republican. Next they'll be asking if she will appoint Dick Cheney to be Secretary of State. How are things inside the bubble?

Seriously, let it go.

I think you're reading too much into pro-Clinton Super PACs courting GOP donors. Clinton herself will choose a Democrat for VP and remain left on virtually every issue.

lol, absolutely not. She'll pick someone like, say, Cory Booker or something. Someone younger, probably male would be my guess, maybe even to her left. Sherrod Brown would be an interesting pick.

No, First off the convention delegates would almost certainly vote against a GOP VP Nominee
Secondly it would alienate most of the Sanders supporters, plus some of her own supporters. I am not sure if that person would accept such an appointment  win or loose if that hypothetical GOP nominee could go one with their political career after their VP term is finished. Unless they move to the left they probably are to Conservative to win in most Democratic Primaries, and if they run in a GOP primary they risk being labeled a rino and a opportunist.

True, I was just going off the assumption that Zen was saying right = more aggressive.

Picking a Republican running mate would just go towards validating a lot of Democratic voter's accusations of her being Republican-lite / a centrist.

Things are too partisan right now to safely pick a running mate from the opposition. Plus, she doesn't need such a pick to help her with voters on the other side. Trump is already pushing some groups of Republicans out of the party.

Anyway, I think Clinton's requirements for running mate are: (1) makes a good Vice President, (2) doesn't cost the Democrats a Senate seat, and (3) won't be a disaster electorally. She isn't going to choose someone purely because they appeal to a certain demographic (especially if they simultaneously alienate others).

No, she puts her political safety too far ahead of national unity to do it.

It would be a major mistake for her to name a Republican running mate after fending off a strong primary challenge from the left.

I do expect her to name a moderate Republican to a Cabinet position, though.

Has a Democratic nominee ever picked a Republican VP?
