I wouldn't be surprised if there were at least some. My view is that it was someone who suffered some sort of midlife crisis in the eight intervening years. Someone who was a super mainstream type who went "off the grid". For someone who was fairly young in 1964, it was probably someone who became radicalized by something.

I would have absolutely voted for both even though I've grown somewhat fond of Nixon lately, I don't think he beats McGovern in my book by any stretch.

A libertarian (who hated Johnson). Or an anti-Nixon voter from Arizona.

She was too young to vote for Goldwater.

Probably a conservative former Cold Warrior who became embittered by 'Nam and Nixon's duplicitous nature after 'Nam didn't end and Watergate allegations started a'goin'.

Regardless of '76, he probably voted for Reagan and the GOP until he died.

A person who believes to tell it like it is and values honor among politicians' personality traits.

They deeply care about social liberty and are generally unconcerned about the stability of America.

A staunchly conservative man who got his lunch rations stolen from him by Nixon during WWII. He remembered Nixon for the rest of his life.

Perhaps Harvey Milk? He switched parties in 1972.

I could see that, or someone similar. A closeted gay man who was conservative in a time when neither party seemed to be for gay rights but changed after stonewall. Alternatively maybe some type of old school Bob Taft conservative who still supported Goldwater despite his bellicose rhetoric because he generally agreed with him domestically but by 72 was so adamantly anti-Vietnam that he considered it the most important issue.

Probably from:
West Feliciani Parish, LA
(897-223/80.1%-19.9% Goldwater-Johnson; 1079-1001/45.4%-42.1% McGovern-Nixon)

I imagine that there were probably about 300-400 Goldwater/McGovern voters in this county.

Me, or an anti-war conservative who voted for Goldwater because of economic issues, and McGovern for foreign policy.

I imagine the influx of A-A voters to the rolls account for almost all the difference.

A conservative who was hardcore anti-Vietnam. Maybe had a kid or a friend who died over there.
