I know it was a long time ago, but let's all remember he got crushed by Donald Trump in his home state by double digits and only carried one county.

Because these are also the people who talk about a Condi Rice/Brian Sandoval ticket as the ultimate Republican ticket.

lol I've been thinking about starting a thread like this because Rubio as a VP honestly makes no sense, and the fact that Trump and Cruz are still talking about having him as a VP is just weird. Even Rubio knows he has no future in politics; he's trying to get a job at the Miami Dolphins..

Because Rubio is still a moderate, reasonable, electable, inspirational, beautiful man. He just lost because of stubborn Cruz/Kasich voters who failed to see that. I mean, if you added all of the Kasich/Cruz/Other votes to Rubio in Florida, he would've won 54/46!

Whatever one thinks of Castro, I don't recall him getting utterly humiliated and destroyed politically recently.

You can't get humiliated and destroyed when you're just a low-ranking cabinet member who barely does anything.

He has some delegates.

The popular vote for Cruz + Rubio is greater than Trump's (at present), lending the ticket some needed legitimacy.

It helps heal the establishment-Cruz rift (if one even exists).

There are some people (outside this forum) who aren't aware of the existence of any politicians other than presidential candidates, so their choices of people to speculate about is limited.

He had a chance, then he acted fake and tried to come off as something he wasn't, Floridians clearly saw past that and utterly HUMILIATED him here.

I only voted for Rubio as the strongest Anti-Trump guy in the race here, otherwise never would I vote for him. Other people felt differently.

For the reasons? He's Hispanic, young and somewhat moderate

When Rubio lost Florida he definitely lost a lot of the reason to be a leading VP candidate. However, if Cruz feels the need to create a 'unity ticket' he only has two choices, Rubio and Kasich. And Kasich is probably not interested.

Because both of the guys who might get to pick have brought him up as a possibility. As to why they feel that way, you'll have to talk it up with them.

What makes Rubio "moderate"?

He ran as a conservative.  Other than immigration, where has he not toed the conservative line?

It took Donald Trump for Tea Party darlings, like Cruz and Rubio, to be described as "moderates".

Reminds me of what Barry Goldwater told Bob Dole in the 1990s: "we're not the liberal wing of the Republican Party, can you imagine that?"

Rubio could still help a Republican carry Florida.  That's still huge in the race.

He's a known quantity with political talent who ran in the wrong primary season. It doesn't mean that a young swing state Senator should be ignored  for the bottom of the ticket.

Rubio's favorables in Florida are abysmal. He will hurt more than help.

But his favorables are great with Cubans, who voted for Obama in 2012 but have voted sometimes voted overwhelmingly Republican in the past (in 2004, a Republican Senate candidate won 50%-49%...while carrying Miami-Dade County, even as he ran far behind normal Republican numbers in the rest of Florida). Rubio still has more up- than downside in Florida.
