NDP delegates vote 52% in favorite for a leadership convention.
Leadership convention sometime in 2017, could be extended to 2018.

I think Mulcair should probably stay till a new leader is picked.

He is staying till a new leader is picking, but he can't stay 2 years as a lame duck. Should resign and name an interim.

Given how it went last time, that's a bad idea.

We'll see how much the Leap Manifesto plays in the race. The base supports it, but the party is in power in Alberta and seeks power in BC. Interesting times ahead...

Yeah, there's no issues with him hanging on in the interim. He'll be needed for the transition. Dippers just don't want him being the leader in the next election.

Earl: Sure, not my party. Tongue Ashton's all but declared already. Cullen will probably run, maybe Angus. Boulerice stays as QC lieutenant.

Wow.  What a repudiation.

I like the idea of Niki Ashton leading the party.

Why does it always take years for Canadian parties to hold a leadership election? What's the problem with holding the convention, I don't know, six months from now?

Logistics, money, needing a break. Money could be complicated if Federal Court rules certain MPs have to pay out of pocket for that expense issue.

NDP sent out in an e-mail thanking Mulcair and saying that he'll stay on till a new leader is chosen in an election.

Ashton's not going to win, guys. Let's move on.

Cullen and Leslie have both said they're not running, but 2 years is a long time.

It's going to be held "within 24" months, from what I've been reading.

Yeah yeah yeah, Cullen feigned disinterest to avoid being seen as disloyal but no one takes that seriously. Keep in mind that for a year after the 2011 election Justin Trudeau steadfastly insisted he would not run for the Liberal leadership and wanted to spend time with his kids...what happened with that?

From wiki: In the 1970s McQuaig and four friends co-owned a house they called The Pit in Toronto's east end, where they hosted frequent house parties and dinners for friends in academia, media and the arts. In 1976 she lived for a year in Paris, where she learned French...
