I might recommend "commercial."  In my visits to China I have seen that they treat Christmas pretty much the same way we do:  one big retail fest. 

That said, I think you can stick with "big."  The chinese will understand that it means spectacular displays of light and sound, conspicuous (over)consumption of food and drink, Santa Claus in every shopping mall, the decoration of trees, and the exchange of cards, trinkets, money, and merriment.

Is it good for the Chinese to treat Christmas as a big holiday?  Depends upon whom you ask.  For the owners of the sweatshops that make the Christmas presents, it's very good.
