Which elected officials would be considered Paleoconservatives? We hear a lot of talk of the Libertarian wing of the GOP, but what I have noticed as a big difference is economic policy, where Paleos often tend to be a lot more populist. I know Walter Jones would be a solid example of one, but which other elected officials fit this mold?

Duncan Hunter Sr. and Tom Tancredo come to mind. Jimmy Duncan is a more recent example, and a current officeholder.

Are we not drawing any distinction between economic "populists" on the left and right now?

He was rather socially conservative, but I don't know if he can be considered a Paleocon.

Yeah, I was under the impression that paleoconservatives largely supported conservative methods of achieving more populist goals.  Traficant seemed to just be an economically liberal, socially conservative Democrat.

Traficant wanted to abolish the IRS and end all foreign aid (especially to Israel). Combine that with his anti-free trade, abortion, and illegal immigration stances and he seems pretty paleocon to me.

Traficant was close with the America First Party, which was set up by former Buchanan supporters who got kicked out of the Reform Party. Yeah, I'd say it's fair to call him a Paleocon.

Trump is not a paleoconservative. In fact, Trump is a progressive democrat in GOP clothing. Ron Paul is a paleo (except on trade)

I thought the Pauls were libertarians.

They are libertarians, but paleoconservatives are similar to libertarians (fiscal conservatism, non-intervention).  The Pauls are somewhat paleoconservative since they (especially Rand) are not very liberal socially, on issues such as abortion.

Ron was one of the most pro-life congressmen in my lifetime. Plus before he was a congressmen he was an OBGYN.

Do you even know what a "progressive democrat" is?

Hint: it's not a person that doesn't completely share your viewpoint.

Jimmy Duncan Jr and Duncan Hunter Sr are the only Paleoconservatives I like.

Other Examples:

Virgil Goode
Ron Paul
Walter Jones
Tom Tancredo
Scott Garrett (whoever put Chris Smith, did you mean Garrett? I feel as if Smith is just moderate on economic issues, not a Paleocon)

Actually, I also think Garrett is a solid congressman too.

He's an authoritarian paleoconservative with some nationalist left leanings, at best. In all honesty, he's a nationalist paleoconservative who might be pro-choice.

No. He really isn't. Even putting aside his politics, Trump is in no way the problem. Trump's campaign was a monster created by the GOP.

Trump is not a paleo. Being pro-choice and authoritarian disqualifies trump from being paleo.

I'm willing to accept that Trump isn't a paleoconservative. But he isn't a progressive either.

His views are very much different from actual progressives, like Bernie Sanders and Elizabeth Warren. Also, usually, progressives aren't authoritarian.

On economic issues? You could make that argument.
On social issues? Not really.
