I can't argue too much with that list, but I would just like to shout out Michigan as an honorable mention. I know everyone first thinks about Detroit, but the Lake Michigan and Lake Huron coasts are outstandingly pretty, especially the sand dunes on the Lake Michigan shore. Of course the UP and Lake Superior coast is also unbelievably pretty too, right up there with almost any other part of the country.

Alaska not being on this list is shameful.

But of these, I give the edge to Oregon and Montana.

Only half of Utah is actually pretty, the other half is salt flats and smog....and it's still a desert. Arizona is bad about this too, being only interesting on the Utah and New Mexico borders and it's still a desert.

New Mexico I'm no expert about besides Albuquerque and Carlsbad, but screw it anyway for being a desert.

Colorado comes close to the other two, but it's hard to beat the states with Lolo National Forest and Crater Lake.

I voted for Arizona and Utah, although Colorado and New Mexico definitely deserve an honorable mention.

By 'Which state has the most beautiful natural surroundings?'  I meant just among those listed,  not the entire US.
Sorry for the confusion.
