Why is Obama's time more valuable than mine? What makes him qualified to "entertain" at high profile corporate events? Could it be that he's being thrown easy high-paid gigs as a reward for his cough cough good behavior cough cough?

Trying to ingratiate herself with the Sanders wing that she """""betrayed""""" by endorsing the party's nominee in 2016.

Also bringing up legitimate grievances with President Obama's legitimate lack of leadership on these issues but ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Huh? Obama has already hinted that he wants to get rid of gerrymandering, improve civic participation, and to get money out of politics.

He's already made great strides.
But he took Cantor Fitzgerald's money which means he is evil and part of the cabal that is ruining our democracy despite his actions that prove otherwise

Seriously, I maintain that Cantor Fitzgerald wanted to talk to the guy who killed Bin Laden considering the entire firm was nearly taken out on 9/11 and that Obama should get paid for spending his valuable time speaking with them.

Is that gonna be the go to excuse now every time one of these politicians cozies up to Wall Street? Hillary Clinton made the 9/11 argument last year to justify taking money from Wall Street as well. This is getting absurd.

We're gonna get our asses handed to us again in 2018 and 2020 until Democrats stop being the soft Party of the rich.
For Christ's sake.

Immediately following 9/11, corporate firms were exploring moving their headquarters to rural areas so that they wouldn't get decimated in a terrorist attack. Who's gonna attack East Bumblefuck Montana?

So employees of these firms wanted to continue living in New York City and did not want to move to East Bumblefuck. So when Hillary fought against these companies moving to East Bumblefuck (because if they left the economy of the city, already in bad condition following the attacks, would've collapsed), the employees of those firms appreciated it.

She laid an egg in the debate by not explaining it. But that is what happened. Do I know why Obama's speaking at Cantor Fitzgerald? No. But I do know 9/11 impacted these firms*. And politicians' reactions and actions in the aftermath impacted the people who work for them. To act like they didn't isn't telling the whole story.

*Especially Cantor Fitzgerald. They lost 68% of the workforce on 9/11, including the CEO's brother. Almost 700 employees in all. You don't have to like their business, but they were impacted by 9/11, and do have an interest in Barack Obama other than his fiscal policies.

Trying to ingratiate herself with the Sanders wing that she """""betrayed""""" by endorsing the party's nominee in 2016.
I'll never forget the "we trusted you" chants.
Disgusting. Sanders was not owed her support. Apparently the two don't even get along very well, and Warren strikes me as a much more pragmatic politician.

Well, no, she didn't "owe" Sanders her support, or anything like that. Endorsing Hillary Clinton in the primary is still a huge indictment on her character, though.
Stop revising history. She endorsed after Hillary had already won the nomination. She said throughout the primary she was going to endorse her party's nominee. She did. To hold that against her is ridiculously asinine.

Ridiculous & clueless post. For one, Bernie & Warren have known each other for atleast a decade, even when was a teacher at Harvard. Warren recently did a rally for Our-Revolution in Mass & talked about going to meet all politicians in US a decade back for policy issues & how everyone was quite but 1 old grumpy white man kept asking her pointed questions with back n forth with everyone watching & how her friendship with Bernie developed since then. If Bernie had won not only would Warren be the VP, but as Bernie explicitly said she discussed with all strong progressives & would have not run had Warren run & Bernie mentioned that he had discussed most of his policies with Warren before his run !

Anyways Bernie is pretty pragmatic & compromising in many respects, for example that Income bar of 100K for Free tuition was a bad idea, much complicated & will lead to 2 classes & universality is essential to preserve a program for long so this will be on the chopping bloc. Bernie Sanders not only passed the most ground-breaking Veterans healthcare bill, but also was the amendment king while in the House. What has Warren passed? Hillary had 3 bills passed while in Senate, naming post offices n stuff.

You can't be a top leader & be a political coward. Elizabeth Warren openly called Hillary a corrupt person who sells votes for money & then didn't endorse Bernie because she was power hungry & wanted to leave the option for VP (& doesn't have the political courage to run for POTUS). She stayed away from the biggest political fight for progressives in decades & she has to work hard now to get the Bernie wing vote (which is much larger than the previous Warren wing).

Honestly not endorsing is not a big deal, it's her wish, but Bernie Sanders' supporters supported a once in many decades leader who had the potential to be one of the best POTUS' in history, so to expect more political courage is not an unwise expectation !

Oh hmmm. He could technically do both, start a run for President and run for Senate if that fails. Might not be good for optics or fundraising though.

Jake Tapper to Bill Maher - How about Elizabeth Warren for 2020? Who will you support!

Maher - I am still a Bernie supporter, he was getting 20,000 young folks when Hillary couldn't get big crowds! We have to stop this ageism, there are people who grow old at 45 & people who work hard at an old age (Look at how Jerry Brown did at California).

I hope Bernie runs atleast to keep people honest, to tell the truth so that we can stop the pandering & BS & everyone has to step up !

Interview - At CNN

Sounds like Iger 2020 is a real possibility:

Sasse

Sasse also has a new book out, but he’s a more of a longshot to run, so I’m not going to start a whole separate thread on him like I have for Kasich’s book tour.  But I’ll mention it here:

I don't know that it's really the political people.  Might simply be Dem.-friendly CEOs and Hollywood moguls like Katzenberg.

Any time one of the prospective candidates uses the word "focus" in their denials on presidential ambitions, I read it as "I am going to run for president".  It's the classic dodge.  Like saying "OK, sure, I'm going to run for president in a few years, but don't judge me for thinking ahead that far, because I'm *focused* on my current job."  The fact that Gillibrand used the f-word (focus) in her most recent denial is part of why I didn't take that denial very seriously.

Sheryl Sandberg takes her book tour to South Carolina on Wednesday:

http://www.ticketfly.com/purchase/event/1450030

Meanwhile, I’ve been looking for more info on CAP’s Ideas Conference next week, but the info seems to be hard to come by.  Way back in March, they announced that Booker, Bullock, Garcetti, Gillibrand, Harris, Murphy, and Warren would all be speaking there, but nothing announced since then.  However, today, I found this, which says that Kander will also be speaking:

Murphy has some potentially serious issues, at least in the general; specifically, his stance on gun control and his past financial controversies.
