I think Allen will get the nomination though if Nazi Santorum can beat the anti-abortion, gun loving democrat Casey then he has a very good chance. But i think he will lose to Casey.

It'll be Allen that's next in the political hierarchy, since Frist is clearly (politically) impotent.  The order is predetermined, it's just how far in the stack you have to go.  I doubt their creativity when it comes to selecting a true dark horse (Condi Rice, Mitt Romney, or Sam Brownback).  It'll be played among Republicans and the uninspired "journalists" at Fox News and CNN that Allen will be the dark horse, the underdog, just so they can boost their ratings when the "dark horse, underdog, everyday guy" CRUSHES (yes, as Arnold says,  "there's no two ways about it") her in the PV and EC.  Some Dems. like to think Hill has 53% in the bank, but she's really only got 26%, and when moderates split around 50% for us (very, very generous on my part) it'll fall short for us (42%).  So we can believe the puppets at CNN, but I'd rather trust my instinct which gave me that sinking feeling at the Iowa caucuses and New Hampshire primaries when a predetermined loser got our nomination.

Allen and Santorum have a great shot at winning the nomination (that is, if both can survive re-election). Sanford also has a good chance of being the nominee and Pawlenty could be the dark horse in this one. However, when you narrow is down to who has the best chance to win the General election, it would be either Pawlenty or Allen.

I think Pawlenty is probably the best chance for the Republicans.  He is not often mentioned in the national media because they focus too much on Bill Frist and George Allen (both of whom are EXCELLENT Senators and would make good Presidents.)  He (Pawlenty) would be a very good candidate for the GOP and a very good President of the United States.

I am going with Mitt Romney.

I have listed some of Romney's qualifications and characteristics in other posts on this forum.

Romney looks presidential, he acts presidential, he talks presidential, he IS presidential!

"Ladies and gentlemen, I give you the President of the United States, Mitt Romney!"  The band strikes up a stirring rendition of "Hail To The Chief"  and President Romney walks on to the stage to the wild applause and cheers of the tumultuous throng assembled.

Cheap shot!

There's only one U.S. Senator with a  Nazi/KKK (same thing) background, and he's a DEMOCRAT from West Virginia!

Probably because the Republicans aren't likely to nominate a slimebag owned by the liberal media.

Well, lets follow the trail of your poor excuse for reasoning.

P1. John McCain claims to be a Republican

P2. You (apparently) want McCain as President.

C.  Ergo, you are a Republican.

c'mon, the Reps. are going to stun us w/ their dark horse pick George Allen...and we're going to comply with the elite, uninspired media/entertainment (more of the latter w/ CNN and FN) when we pick Hill

Well, he said he wouldn't if that counts for anything. He's doing just fine in Colorado.

My  Other choice is:  McCain/Jeb Bush.

All other Republicans lack name recognition, significant accomplishments, a strong fund rainsing network, and an ability to bring in swing voters.
Luckily, the Democrats have just as few good candidates, with only Hillary having name recoginition and money.

Interesting, never heard him say that.  His term ends after the 2006 election and he will be term-limited and looking for a new job Smiley.  I figure he could go on the speaking circuit, make big bucks by making speeches in Des Moines, IA and Manchester, NH and then run.  I heard he and his wife have reconciled.  To me this is a sign of a upcoming run.

In the highly unlikely event he was to be nominated, there would be a major third party conservative oriented effort comparable to the Perot effort.

Remember, McCain is buddies with Kennedy, and does NOT want to stop illegal immigration but DOES want to grant amnesty to illegal aliens.

How did Owens handle the Univ of Colorado Football scandal last year?  I am just wondering if that would hinder his chances and if thats a reason why he says he's not running in '08.

P1. Last time I checked, he was.

P2. No, I was just implying the idiocy of your statement. "Liberal Media", are you on drugs?!?

C. No, I am a proud Democrat, and I couldn't live with myself as a Republican. The Republican here is you.

First, are you saying you don't want McCain elected, but just want to saddle the Republicans with a slimebag so the Democrats can nominate just about anything and get elected?

Second, are you denying that the so-called 'mainstream media' is liberal?  If so, you are out of step with the majority of the members of that media and the public.

Third, I realize that you see the Democrat party as an intolerant bunch of left wing kooks, but the party is a big tent, which includes conservative Democrats.
