This is why I prefer good, honest open marriages.

I used to give him a pass and go "mixed, lean FF", but learning more about the catastrophic impact of his crime policies makes this untenable.

Disgusting, vile person and President.

As a President: FF, but with quite a lot of caveats to stay there.

As a person: Completely morally bankrupt.

When we're considering Clinton as a political player then he's obviously a bastard. As of his personal life, I don't think it's really much worse than many other married men.

He was a pretty good President-the economic growth of the 90's didn't just appear, the early years were key in getting the economy back on track. His foreign policy wasn't too awful, and as I always say with Blair democrats should be happy that we had Clinton passing the reforms in the 90's, rather than President Gingrich

Married married women too, actually. A lot of marriages experiences problems with infidelity. Beside, sleeping around by itself hardly makes anybody a horrible person. There are many other factors to consider.

That's why I prefer honest open marriages.

'Open marriages' expect less of people. They are 'honest' at the cost of serving any coherent function in personal development or discipline. If you don't want to commit to at least attempting fidelity, don't get married.

EDIT: In any case there is nothing 'honest' or acceptable by any but the most absolutely pathetic and minimal moral standard about a married man of around fifty, who is the head of state of a nuclear superpower, having sex with an intern less than half his age. I'd accept the idea that Clinton isn't actively worse than many other powerful men, sure, but one man's modus ponens is another's modus tollens so all that that demonstrates to me is that powerful men are sickeningly creepy and disgusting scumbags.

I have to agree with you on that. If one wants multiple sexual partners, then don't get married - Unless of course the marriage is purely for business purposes ŕ la House Of Cards/Underwoods. Open marriages are not something the vast, vast majority of people could practice without significant conflict and ultimately, divorce.

Further, it's hard to see how most people wouldn't begin to form a bond and eventually feelings/love for their extramarital partners. Not necessarily every/any partner, but the chances are high it will happen to varying degrees - Especially for women. This alone should be reason enough to avoid such a thing. It's one thing to have sex, but another entirely to love.

----------

As for Bill - I think he was a good president in that, no matter what anyone thinks, helped the Democratic party regain/retain power in the face of a conservative political realignment and set the stage for a leftwards shift decades later. His personal life though... ew.
