What the hell was Hillary Clinton thinking saying that sentence tonight? That's going to be in every single attack ad in Ohio, Pennsylvania, and Virginia in the general election and it'll be brutal. She's on camera saying that.

The Republican nominee is on camera encouraging punching protestors, banning Muslims and making fun of the disabled. I doubt Clinton would have any chance in WV. This isn't harmful in Virginia, PA or Ohio. The DEMS in these states actually like that idea and transitioning to clean energy. And if we're being honest, she discussed actually taking care of those people and trying to find other avenues of employment for them.

Sadly, it doesn't matter in many cases what people's policy positions are. What matters are the catchy soundbites and the moments that make people say "was that a gaffe?" or "ooo zinger".

West Virginia might be by far the most Republican state in the general election if it's Trump vs Hillary.
West Virginia might be the only state where Trump does better than Romney.

This is interesting because WV was a safe-D state in the 1990's and was a lean-R state in the 2000's.
WV has gone from a safe-D state to a safe-R state in such a short period of time.
It's quite interesting.

Coal county is already long gone. Atlas needs to get out of the 90s.

I agree with you and Hillary completely, but this will sadly hurt her in crucial swing states like PA and OH.

Not a good soundbite for anyone who works in the coal industry for sure, but that is only about 83,000 spread across a lot of states.

and how many of them were potential Clinton voters anyway?

And then, how many green energy company jobs did she pick up?

Calculated political position. There are more pro clean energy voters than pro coal voters and the pro coal mining voters are not voting Hillary anyway.

No, my point was that coal country is already heavily Republican and will continue to trend that way regardless of some dumb soundbyte. There's only so much more water you can squeeze out of a rock.

I don't think this was a good political move because most of these coal workers are concentrated in crucial swing states like PA and OH.

Remember when she depended upon Appalachia to slow Obama's path to the nomination in 2008?  Talk about being a cutthroat politician who will say anything to get votes.

You have to remember that turnout rates in the coal country are incredibly low. Hillary's anti-coal comments could inspire many of these people who have never voted before to turnout against her, especially considering the fact that Donald Trump's populist message is the perfect fit for these voters.

He's agreeing with you that coal county is long gone and that these coal miners need to find a new job by becoming professional soccer players.

Booooooooing.

"Get 'er out."

"Get 'er out."

"Trump. Trump. Trump. Trump."

"Here's another one."

"Get 'em out."

"Get 'em out."

USA!USA!USA!USA!USA!USA!

Coal is a mess. Even the Chinese are cutting back coal mining to reduce enissions.

We will have an oversupply in the mining industry which means the prices will deteriorate to the point of increasing mine closures.

Trump will be all over this nonetheless.

This was a very stupid quote.  True, coal miners are not a very large group in America anymore, but this soundbite is going to turn off a lot more voters than just them.  Other blue collar workers are going to hear this and be turned off by Hillary.  It's the message it sends.

My favorite part of Hillary bashing is when people bash her for doing what politicians do. I don't want to be the bearer of bad news and shatter your hearts, but...all politicians pander. Yes, that includes your precious "anti establishment/insurgent" idols.
