That's the only reason it would be amended at all, so yes he would.

I've always found this part of the Constitution somewhat archaic, but I do hope this country would not be sufficiently stupid to elect Arnold Schwarzenegger to the Presidency.

I don't mind his politics at all. However, is a one-term Governor with little other experience really going to be in charge of nuclear weapondry and our foreign policy? That bothers me. Besides, I do not generally like to declare people bad people just because I do not like them, but Arnold Schwarzenegger is - in my eyes - a horrible person.

I'm not sure. I think that a lot of people would find Schwarzenegger very hard to swallow, even moreso than Hillary. I doubt it would be a landslide - I think Schwarzenegger would have a chance at California, in which case it would be over, but might bleed in the midwest.

Probably, but you are saying this for 2008. In 2012, he could run (or even 2016 - but he'd be old and charisma-lacking by then - and the magic would have probably worn off) but I would never, ever support him. He does not represent the kind of people who should be in office, period.

There is no way Schwarzenegger would win the GOP nomination, and he would certainly never win the Presidency.

He is not Presidential material.

Arnold is not a bad politician, and possibly could win by name sake alone.  However, I do not think the Constitution should be amended just so he could run.

I oppose amending the Constitution for this. The founders were absolutely right on this point.

The G.O.P has moved -------------------> way too far to the right to elect a moderate like Arnold. Coupled with the fact that Republicans hate his wife/almost all members of the Kennedy clan and you've got a no win situation.

I don't understand why GOPers here think that right wing candidates  (and I mean to the right of Bush Jnr) can win big since Reagan. Get some sense and nominate someone who appeals to the middle - like McCain, Snowe, Collins, Chafee or even Isakson.

This goes for the Dems as well

Perhaps because the last four Republican candidates have been conservative, and three of them won five elections between them.

The Dems have much more of a problem.  They haven't had a true liberal in office since Carter, who won by a fluke (useless opposition).
