The majority of Peurto Ricans would likely be against statehood since they prefer to mooch off the government.

Yes/southeast. And Guam and Samoa and all those Pacific islands should be part of Hawaii.

no/mideast.
This is one of the things I disagree with my opponent on.  If we have Puerto Rico become a state, they'll want more money and more services.  And what's the point in having a State of mostly Spanish speakers?  It's fine as a territory, and the people there like territory status.  How would we make a fiftyone star flag anyways?

Given that we currently have stars in rows of 6-5-6-5-6-5-6-5-6, and the space is all filled up, fitting 17 stars in one row or fitting 17 rows into the space might be kind of tricky.

It seems to me that it wouldn't be that hard to think of combinations that would work, though... something like 6-5-6-6-5-6-6-5-6.

Actually, Dave has it set up so that you can have Puerto Rico on the map.  If you change the date in the URL for the image to 2008 and then add a bit at the end that says "&PR=x;y;z", Puerto Rico is displayed.

For people's interest's sake, here's a picture of what the flag I described above would look like:

Why don't the stars be packed up in a circle like on the EU flag? Or how about we merge to states, like, say, West Virginia and Virginia?

I'm sure I know of one poster who would thoroughly approve of the second option. Smiley
