Yes, let's ignore the fact that white supremacists are thronging around Donald Trump's banner, and pretend they're not even there.  

Let's face it, Trump can't win this thing without them.  Why else would he be waffling about David Duke's endorsement, and hesitating about condemning the Ku Klux Klan?  Why else would his family members be going over to white supremacist radio personalities (no, I don't buy that Trump Jr. didn't know what he was doing) to be interviewed on his behalf?

It's a disturbing pattern, and it doesn't surprise me that many of you are averting your eyes.

Many Trump supporters (and quite a few non-Trumps supporters, I imagine) get a little secret thrill out of stories like these. They don't necessarily agree with the ideas expressed, but they like the idea that someone who expressed them isn't totally cast out of society. It's like the one kid in the back of the class who makes a fart noise after the teacher harshly tells everyone to be quiet. None of the other kids would condone it, but at that moment the kid in the back is the most popular one in class.
