Aside of my own federalist views on Europe, it's hard to deny a tremendous advancement first in western, then also central part of the continent that was brought by the European integration. In my own country, I can compare what was before 2004 and since then. Although the Nobel Peace Prize for EU was ridiculed, I don't think it can be denied European integration had a role in maintaining peace after horrible experiences of the WWII, which were one of key reasons for the integration to begin with.

EU isn't perfect, far from it, and serious challenges must be addressed, but I take it over the old Europe anytime.

A reasonable idea that is quite horrible in practice. The idea of 'an over close union' was pretty much squashed by the Greek bailout. 'We're all Europeans but if you need help, go f*** yourself".

I will admit freely though, that the Eurozone was a terrible blunder that has amounted to a gold standard that is harder to get rid of. The only real solution for the eurozone (aside from abolition, which nobody in Brussels wants because it would be embarrassing, and nobody in Berlin wants because they make bank from an artificially weak currency) would be federalisation of economic control. But nobody wants that either, because the Union isn't accountable to its Parliament. So we're left with this mess.

Although it is better than leaving.

The European Union is fine as an organization that promotes economic integration, legal harmonization, coordination of foreign relations, culture, scientific & educational progress, human rights, and peace. So, Freedom Organization.

But the idea of a federal Europe is absurd; it will never work. The Eurozone was also a massive mistake, and I personally feel it should be broken up (however I realize the chances of this happening are virtually nil).

FO, which needs a Constitution and not the Articles of Confederation. Seriously, can they at least develop a stronger currency?

They need fewer legislative members, an Electoral College, and a federally elected executive with something like two year terms and no more than three consecutive terms and/or no more than six years out of every ten. Weak powers would be given to the government at first, and then increased or remain by referendum every two years. These referendums would be a five-way step, with the last one achieving power similar to the American federal government. Each step would have to pass with >55% of the vote, >50% of the vote in a majority of countries, and at least 33% yes in every country.
