Position on woman in the draft:

If the draft must be had, draft everyone in order of most physically able to least. Of course, those retired from being armed guards, policemen, soldiers, and etc., under fifty would be drafted first if physically above average. Any other way is actually discriminatory.

How about we don't draft anybody. Conscription is a form of slavery.

Idealism is good, but I'm talking about the lack of a competent leader who can rally the people to volunteer.

In modern warfare, the draft isn't necessary.

It should be gone or women should be involved.  Period.  Anything else is wrong.

You can't physically test every American and then put them on a "fit" scale.  That would be silly and cost a butt ton of money and time.  Restricting the draft to a certain age range and then getting rid of all the fatties and dummies as they are discovered is the best way to go.

But getting rid of the (potential) draft is the obvious answer.  Most young people are too fat, too stupid or too out of shape to be in the military anyway, male or female. <I can cite that again if you need me to, everytime it's brought up somebody always seems to say "nuh huh!">  The dumb fatties don't want the military and the military doesn't want the dumb fatties.

(I wouldn't be against a place to send all the dumb fatties though, and State U or the local Community College ain't it, we've got enough dummies with sh**t job/no job and ten's of thousands in student debt.  Something like the Army, but not military related.  Yell at them, make them get up early and eat food they'd rather not eat and teach 'em to patch concrete and paint bridges and other sh**t dumb fatties can excel at and make a decent living.  And I'm not talking about you fatties, I'm talking about the fatter guys that beat you up in middle school.  Yes, I know of Job Corp, but very few people do that on purpose and I'd guess most poor folk don't even know it's an option.)

I don't think this is a good idea. If a draft is really necessary (and in almost all cases it is not, in which case drafting people, apart from being a waste of money, would be outright immoral), women should have the choice between serving in the military (just like men) and doing civil service, just like modern orthodox Israeli women have this choice. However, it would be good for women to do a basic military training of three weeks, even if women will do civil service afterwards, and I do not see a problem in making that mandatory -- but only if the draft is really necessary, of course.

Of course that is discrimination, but discrimination is sometimes justified.

This is my view 100%, though I prefer the former in that the Selective Service System should be abolished altogether. If a draft is ever considered, it should be debated and deliberated from scratch and everyone involved should pay the potential political consequences.

There is no justification for not including women in the draft. There is also no justification for having a draft for anyone in the current era.

Agreed, though the second sentence should be a higher priority.

They're in combat roles now, so they should be drafted for all positions, just like the boys.

I'm against a draft but if women want the right to vote, they should have to register for the draft.  Feminism can't go both ways.

Yes.  The point of the draft is to have people available for combat.  It would be a bit hypocritical if women, despite the fact that they may serve as combat troops, were exempt.

I'm against the draft regardless of gender.
