In an hypothetical scenario where Ronald Reagan served as California Governor from 2003-2010 and entered the 2016 GOP Presidential Primary. In this Scenario all the Candidates are the same on both the GOP and Democratic side. Each candidate enters with the same approval rating as in real life. For Reagan assume a similar approval rating as he had during the 1980 Primary Each candidate including Reagan holds the same political positions as they would in real life. The Economic and social conditions are also the same in this situation as real life.

The Following are a revised list of USA Presidents
Pre Jan 1981 Same as in Real life
Jan 1981-Jan 1989 George H. W. Bush
Jan 1989-Jan 1992 Bob Dole
Jan 1992-Preasent Same as in real life

In 2015 when he announces his run he is 69 years old, Also assume his health to be the same as 1980.

His political skill and charisma make him focus on the smallest state: New Hampshire. While Trump won Iowa, Reagan carries on to win Nevada, losing South Carolina narrowly to Rubio despite putting little effort there.

Reagan(56.7%)
Trump(23.4%)
Rubio(15.9%)

332: Reagan/Sandoval(53.1%)
206: Clinton/O'Malley(45.6%)
Other: 1.3%

So Reagan has relatively the same life arc only born a generation later. Maybe he comes up on SNL and becomes a hack sitcom star in the 90s, playing the dad on that 70s show or Mr Feeney in Boy Meets World. Starts out as a Democrat but drifts to the right in the wake of 9-11.

Reagan would have lost, since he was very liberal on immigration. Reagan would be a RINO today.

Reagan legalized abortion as governor of California. Today's GOP would've hammered him for that in 1980.

So who would've been President from 1981 to 1989?

With the positions of today's Republican voters, I struggle to see how Reagan gets nominated.  We're talking about a governor who signed to legalize abortion before Roe vs. Wade, had a few environmental bills, took up the cause of gun control after leaving office, took an open border stance, and had a life around gays in Hollywood which he didn't object to.  Since then his family has come to support stem cell research and criticize the Iraq War which doesn't speak for him but is an indication.  In the general election, he still does very well, but getting there is his problem.

President George H.W. Bush from 1981-1989 would've been very different from President Ronald Reagan and resulted in a very different world and GOP.
