In the past week I've seen two Gary Johnson ads on YouTube before the actual video I was watching.

Overall objectively speaking it seemed quite dated.

Pessimism doesn't sell nearly as well as optimism....

Here is the classic Reagan "Morning in America" ad, which many Political Scientists consider to be the key point where Reagan started to bury Mondale in national poll numbers in '84.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_fy-uhxiXcE

Granted, this was a Presidential Reelection campaign, with some significant overall incumbent advantages, considering the economic recovery from "Stagflation" and the "Reagan Recession".

Still, regardless of political parties sometimes using optimism to trumps pessimism, this could well be the first Presidential Election since '88, where the political torch is passed to the "New Generation" after a two-term Presidency from one of the two major political parties.

Hillary's new anti-Trump ad shes releasing in Georgia. Nothing but veterans and Trumps comments on McCain/Khan. Even features former Georgia Senator Max Cleland

And the Daisy ad from the Clinton campaign finally comes.

Priorities USA anti-Trump ad "I love War" gets close to the famous Daisy ad. Running in North Carolina, Ohio, Florida, Nevada and Iowa starting Friday with $5m spend.

https://youtu.be/6-FUfMRgbWU

They use Trump's own quotes against him, with images of war, fallen soldiers, and nukes going off as Trump says: "I'm really good at war, I love war, in a certain way. Including with nukes, yes, including with nukes. I know more about ISIS than the generals do, believe me. Nuclear, just the power, the devastation, is very important to me. I want to be unpredictable, unpredictable."

It's really terrifying.

As noted, that nuke commercial is from the Super PAC. The closest Clinton's actual campaign has come to the "Daisy" ad is the one they release a couple of weeks ago with Trump talking about how he wants to "bomb the s--t out of them" with shots of planes taking off from a carrier (so no nuke imagery).

https://youtu.be/UqpQ4neS68g

I would also say this ad they released in July uses children like the Daisy ad, although in this case the message is about his crassness and termperment than about starting a war.

https://youtu.be/mrX3Ql31URA

So they have ads implying Trump is going to bomb like a crazy man and ads showing how Trump is a horrible role model for kids, but none have gone for the jugular like Daisy with how Trump is going to get your kids killed in a nuclear firestorm.

NC, OH, FL, NV and IA

No PA, CO, VA and NH which means they think they are in good shape in those 4 states

The ad looks sort of "childish/informal", but they probably targeted young voters? Might work.

Pretty stupid thing to put into an ad when half the country or more will think she's right.

That's a web ad, not a TV ad.  It's not of standard length and doesn't have the necessary oral dislcaimer ("I'm Hillary Clinton and I approve this message.")

New Priorities USA anti-Trump TV ad featuring Reagan (no, I'm not kidding). Take a look, it's very powerful:

I would never mention "deplorables" again, if I was in charge of Clinton's campaign Cheesy

When will you go away? You are literally the worst election-time addition to the forum I've seen in two presidential cycles.

But wait, you do think that "deplorables" thing will help Clinton? Smiley
