http://www.scribd.com/doc/299653554/CBS-News-poll-Trump-maintains-commanding-lead-over-GOP-field

They asked Dem voters the early questions, but no horserace numbers

TRUMP 35
Cruz 18
Rubio 12
Kasich 11 (!)
Carson 6
żJeb? 4

This basically proves the Cruz lead was a fluke

Kasich can now at least call himself a better candidate than Huntsman.

"Q12. Regardless of how you intend to vote in 2016, which one of these Republican presidential candidates do you trust most to appoint justices to the U.S. Supreme Court?"
(Conducted Feb 14-16, the only post-debate question)

Cruz 25
Trump 25
Carson 12
Rubio 12
Kasich 10

This is the winning issue for Cruz, if he keeps pushing it.

Kasich's now just ahead of Bush in the national trendline:

This does seem to imply that the NBC poll was an outlier and that Trump is still on top. Other thoughts:

- Cruz does seem to have a path to catch Trump but not necessarily to win th nomination.

- The question as to whether Rubio or Kasich go forward, as the third ticket, hasn't been settled and Kasich seems to be gaining.

- Jeb's campaign is over.

Poll conducted February 12-16, so half of this was pre-debate

Very consistent support outside of educational attainment for Trump. Like several other populist parties/candidates we see, his message resonates across ideology (granted, different shades of gray in a primary) and income for people who are just fed up.

Did NBC attempt to smear Trump by releasing that ridiculous poll the other day?

Astute observation. Which means that Trump's numbers can only go down and Rubio's only go up.
