The reaction of anti-war Dems is even stronger, and Jackson's recovery weaker, than Humphrey's was in real life.

Jackson 41% / 156 EV
Nixon 43.4% / 337 EV
Wallace 15% / 45 EV

Just a thought: LBJ was reluctant to support HHH because of his resvernations with the Vietnam War. Although endorsing him publicly, the president was not satisfied with his second in command. If Jackson had been the nominee, LBJ could have released Nixon's sabotage talks with Thieu and Anna Cenault and the election would have been over.

There probably would've been an indie McCarthy run to roughshod all over anything saving the sabotage talks could've done, and LBJ was still not all that popular.

Yes, I think a indie run by McCarthy could have been possible, but I doubt it since he did not have the real infrastructure for a national campaign. It’s more likely that an anti-war Democrat becomes the VP candidate (like McCarthy).
I doubt that LBJ would have released Nixon’s actions, because he feared that if the Republican was elected, he would enter office seriously damaged and that would weaken the American position.

However, the map would likely remain the same as in real life.
